Founded in 2011 in Seattle, USA, the Westland Distillery wants to prove that excellent single malt whisky can also be made outside of Scotland. The Westland Distillery uses the quality raw materials from the area, the Pacific Northwest. Their single malt whiskey is distilled in a traditional way and has its own 'American' character. We write the whiskyy that Westland produces according to the spelling for American whisky as 'whiskey'.
The name Westland comes from the Dutch horticultural area of that name, where the roots of the founders lie.
'Thoughtfully Made' is the motto of the Northwestern American Westland Distillery. You can read what they mean by that on the back label, but of course you can also just taste their single malt whisky (or 'whiskey' in American style) to find it out. (46%)
At the American Westland Distillery, it is primarily about what the barley does for their single malt whisky and not the cask. Westland uses different types of barley, and for this Colere Edition 2 it was a variety called Talisman. Bottled at 50.0%.
