Royal Brackla 2009 Archives

Archives' first Royal Brackla bottling is a little reserved at first, but give it time in the glass and the rich character of this Highland single malt whisky, matured for 16 years in a select bourbon cask, will reveal itself. (Bottled at 52.4% ABV)

Royal Brackla 2011 Double-V

The Belgian whisky friends club Double-V releases several times a year bottlings of whiskies that have matured in their private cellar. This is one of them: a 12-year-old Royal Brackla single malt whisky at 54.5% cask strength. For a great price!

Royal Brackla 2011 Duncan Taylor

Long ago, Royal Brackla's single malt whisky was the first malt used in the 'invention' of the blended whisky. But you can still taste Brackla whisky in its pure form. Like this 10-year-old bottling by Duncan Taylor that matured in a sherry cask. 53.8%

Royal Brackla 2013 James Eadie

James Eadie bottled 285 bottles of this Royal Brackla single malt whisky at a sturdy cask strength of 58.9%. The whisky from the Highland distillery, which is more than two centuries old, matured for 10 years in a scraped and then re-charred bourbon cask.

Royal Lochnagar 12-year-old

A bottling from a modest distillery with a royal warrant. The Royal Lochnager 12 is a good standard bottling, especially considering the favorable price. This single malt whisky easily drinks away. A whisky for every day.

Ruadh Maor 2012 Berry Bros & Rudd

Specially bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd for the members of Whiskybase: so pay attention to this Ruadh Maor! You don't often come across a single malt whisky of that name! Just 120 bottles of this 9-year-old peated Glenturret, aged in a sherry cask (63.9%).

Säntis Malt Dreifaltigkeit - 70cl

Not only that it comes from Switzerland makes this single malt whisky special, but also that it matured in beer casks. And that it has its own unique character, with many smoky notes such as bacon and campfire, meaty and sweet. Complex and easy to drink!

Sazerac Straight Rye

Sazerac is a brand of rye whiskey from the Buffalo Trace Distillery (and it is the name of the family business that owns that distillery). This rye-based whisky is not complex, has its own character and body, and is pleasantly drinkable. (45%)

Scapa 10-year-old

Scapa is the lesser-known of the two Orkney single malt whiskies, and this is a good bottling to get acquainted with it. The whisky matured for 10 years in a small number of bourbon casks and is bottled at 48% ABV. For a reasonable price, it can be yours!

Scotch Blue International

Scotch Blue is a South Korean brand under which blended Scotch whiskies are released for the South Korean market. We never had a Scotch Blue in the store before, but here it is, in a half-litre bottle. For a bargain price! (40%)

Seagram's V.O. - 350ml

When this Seagram's V.O. Canadian Whisky was bottled for the Dutch market, we do not know. Back then, by purchasing this 6-year-old blended Canadian whisky in a 350 ml bottle, you had a chance to win a belt, but those times are over. (40%)

Secret Speyside 1990 Archives - 50.2%

Four years ago, Archives released this 30-year-old Secret Speyside single malt whisky in their Echinoderms from Australia series. We learned from a reliable source that it is a Glenrothes. The bourbon-matured malt was bottled at 50.2% cask strength.

Secret Speyside 1990 Asta Morris

Okay, from which of the 50 or so Speyside distilleries does this single malt whisky come? No idea. We do know that this malt aged for no less than 28 years in a bourbon cask, which means that the ABV percentage is almost at the critical limit: 40.1%!

Secret Speyside 2008 Archives - 56.8%

In 2011, whiskybase.com launched the bottling brand Archives. To date, Archives has released over 230 bottlings. For the Chinese market, this 14-year-old, bourbon-aged Secret Speyside (Macallan?) single malt whisky was released in 2023. Bottled at 56.8%.

Secret Speyside 2011 Thompson Brothers

It doesn't matter that the Speyside distillery has to remain a secret: the fact that the Thompson Brothers selected this single malt whisky gives us enough confidence. An excellent daily dram, matured for 11 years in 2 refill sherry casks. (48.5%)

Secrets of Smoke - Compass Box

Compass Box is a master of whisky blending. This Secrets of Smoke is proof of that: a blend of the Islay whiskies Caol Ila, Bowmore and Laphroaig and the Highlander Ardmore. The malts matured in Palo Cortado, Spanish red wine and Marsala casks. (52% ABV)

Silkie The Legendary Red

In 2020, this Legendary Red Silkie was released, a blended Irish whiskey from the Ardara Distillery in Donegal, blended by Sliabh Liag Distillers: a mix of double and triple distilled whisky, peated malt and grain whisky, finished in wine casks. (46%)

Single Malt Irish Whiskey 17-years-old Whiskybroker

Under the Creetown Distillers brand, Whiskybroker releases a 17-year-old Irish single malt whisky (or 'whiskey', in Irish). We don't know which distillery this malt comes from, but we do know that it matured in three bourbon casks. (41.4%)

Single Malt Irish Whiskey 2001 Rolf Kaspar - Lichtburg #9

Edition no. 9 of Rolf Kaspar's Lichtburg - Historic Series is another 21-year- old Irish single malt whisky. Just like edition no. 8 it matured in an ex-rum cask and of course this malt is also bottled at cask strength (53.5%). Highly recommended!

Smokehead 15-year-old Ian Macleod

Smokehead is a single malt whisky brand from bottler Ian Macleod. As with the previous Smokehead bottlings, this is an anonymous peated Islay whisky. Often the age of these bottlings is unknown, but this is a malt that matured for 15 years. (43% ABV)

Smokehead High Voltage Ian Macleod

Smokehead is a single malt whisky brand from bottler Ian Macleod. Just like with the earlier Smokehead bottlings, this is an anonymous peated islay whisky. And the age of this bottling is also unknown. The ABV content is a solid 58%.

Smokehead Islay Single Malt Ian Macleod

According to some, this Smokehead Islay single malt whisky is young Caol Ila finished in Ardbeg casks. Perhaps. In any case, this is a beautiful, uncomplicated and pleasantly drinkable dram for the smoky whisky lover. At 43%.

Smokehead Rum Rebel Ian Macleod

This rum-finished Smokehead isn't all about peat and smoke. The Islay single malt whisky bottled by Ian Macleod has depth and is complex. The rum finish provides fruity and vibrant notes. All in all a very drinkable and original combination. At 46%.
