Bottler Chapter 7 also blends whisky. This Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is a good example. It concerns 2 bourbon cask matured Scottish single malt whiskies, the youngest of which is 24 years old. Together they are slightly peated. Makes one curious!
Make a mix of single malt whiskies from different Scottish distilleries, and you have a blended malt scotch whisky. And that's exactly what Chapter 7 has done for this bottling released in the Prologue series. For a nice price and in a 750 ml bottle. (49%
This is the kind of blended scotch whisky that you could better drink from a tasting glass: taste it carefully! It's a mix of malt and grain whiskies, the youngest of which is 26 years old. Matured together in a sherry cask and bottled at 44.9%.
This Caol Ila single malt whisky matured for 9 years on a first fill bourbon barrel. This bottling is part of the 2021 release of bottler Chapter 7, alongside an 8 year old Caol Ila. Interesting to taste them one by one! Bottled at cask strength (50.4%).
Chapter 7 bottled this Caol Ila single malt whisky in its Monologue series. The spirit for this smoky Islay malt went on cask in 2012 and matured for 8 years in an ex-bourbon cask before being bottled in 2021 in 301 bottles at a cask strength of 51.4%.
Chapter 7 not only bottles single malt, but also grain whisky. For example, this one from Lowland distillery Girvan. The grain in this bottling matured for 30 years on 2 casks (bourbon barrels) from which a total of 538 bottles came at 49.6% cask strength
This '3rd chapter' from Glen Garioch's The Renaissance series is a fine balanced mix of single malt that matured for 17 years in bourbon and sherry casks. A step further towards an ‘old malt’. Bottled at cask strength (50,8%).
Although almost a century and a half old, the Glenlossie Distillery in Speyside has always remained modestly in the background. That says nothing about the quality of their single malt whisky. Try this 12 year old dram aged in a bourbon cask! (51,1%)
A small-batch bottling of 3 casks, and because it is a single malt whisky, the casks contained the malt whisky from one distillery. Except it's on Islay, we don't know which one. According to the label, the malt is 8 years old. Be surprised by this one!
The picturesque Tormore Distillery in Mid Speyside is now over 60 years old. This Chapter 7 single cask bottling is at 31 years half as old. The lightly peated single malt whisky went on the (bourbon) cask in 1990. That yielded 237 bottles (50.2%) in 2021
