Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.
This is one of those drams that you really have to sit down and sip. It is a 38-year-old Bunnahabhain bottling from Malts of Scotland. The (unpeated) Islay single malt whisky matured in a sherry cask and is bottled at a cask strength of 50.2% ABV.
In 2017, bottler Cadenhead celebrated its 175th anniversary, among others, with this bottling. It is a Bunnahabhain single malt whisky that matured for 27 years in a bourbon cask and was bottled at 41.9%. A mature, balanced and delicate 'Bunna'.
In 2014, Whiskybase bottler Archives released this classically sherried Bunnahabhain single malt whisky in their renowned Fishes of Samoa series. The unpeated Islay malt matured for 23 years in a large sherry cask, from which it was bottled at 47.9%.

Bottler Van Wees was able to get a batch of casks filled with Staoisha, the peated Bunnahabhain single malt whisky. This Staoisha bottling comes out in the nicely priced The Ultimate series. 9 years old and matured in re-charred bourbon casks. (46%)
You see them more and more, bottlings of Staiosha, the peated version of Bunnahabhain single malt whisky. That says something about its popularity. A special bottling is this 6-year-old from Brachadair: 64 bottles came from a small sherry cask at 62.1%.
The second Bunnahabhain bottling in Speciality Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2011. The single malt whisky matured in refill hogsheads and is bottled at 56.1% cask strength. It received a score of almost 86 points on Whiskybase so far.
The fourth Bunnahabhain bottling in Speciality Drinks' Elements of Islay series was released in 2012. The single malt whisky matured in bourbon casks and is bottled at 54.5% cask strength. This is a peated Bunnahabhain, by the way!
More and more whisky lovers are getting a taste for the Staoisha single malt whisky, the peated Bunnahabhain version. For them, this Le Gus't bottling is a great option. The Staoisha matured for 11 years on a first-fill bourbon cask. (56.0% cask strength)
The Bunnahabhain Distillery on whisky island Islay mainly produces non-peated single malt whisky, but they make also smoky drams. Take the Toiteach a Dhà (Gaelic for 'Smoky Two'), for example: matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46.3%.

Bushmills, the world's oldest licensed whisky distillery according to the label, bottled this 15-year-old single malt in 2013 as part of their The World Wood series. The triple-distilled Irish malt is matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV.
Rare Irish Whiskey is the name of the series in which this Bushmill's single malt whiskey was released. This Irish single malt matured in bourbon, port and oloroso sherry casks for a total of 16 years before being bottled at 40% strength in 2021.

With the series in which this Caol Ila single malt whisky was released, James Eadie commemorates the Distilleries of Great Britain & Ireland. This Islay malt matured for 12 years in a re-charred ex-bourbon cask before being bottled at 52.3% cask strength.
The Dutch bottler Van Wees released this Caol Ila almost a quarter of a century ago. The medium-peated single malt whisky matured for 7 years in a bourbon cask and was bottled at the then-usual percentage of 43. It's a unique bottle!
In 2019, Archives bottled this Caol Ila for the Taiwanese market. Of the 313 bottles that came out of the bourbon cask at 57%, as far as we can see, only this one is still available. The peated Islay single malt whisky matured in that cask for 11 years.
