If the bottler is Scott's Selection, then the bottle definitely deserves extra attention, because special and rare bottlings are Robert Scott's trademark. This Dufftown single malt whisky went on cask in 1988 to be bottled in 2011 at 58,3% cask strength.
With this Glenlivet we have something special in our shop. It went into the cask in 1952 and was bottled by the Swiss Lateltin after an unknown period. The bottle has a screw cap, and whatever the label says, it's a single malt whisky!
Glenlochy single malt whisky? That name will only mean anything to true experts. Despite very high scores for the whisky, the Glenlochy distillery closed on January 1, 1983. So, this 25-year-old Glenlochy, bottled in 2006, is really a godsend! (55.3%)
Glenrothes has built up a certain reputation with its own bottlings. But to taste a 25-year-old single malt whisky from this distillery at cask strength, you have to look at independent bottlers. This edition matured in two bourbon casks. Bottled at 50.9%
Glentauchers Distillery is about 125 years old. As a supplier to the blend industry, they don't really release bottlings. Their single malt whisky is undoubtedly popular among independent bottlers. See this 14-year-old, bourbon-aged bottling. (54.4%)
Inchfad is the name for heavily peated Inchmurrin single malt whisky, a malt from the stills of the Loch Lomond Distillery. German bottler Rolf Caspar bottled a 7-year-old Inchfad that matured in a Trinidad rum barrel at cask strength (58.5%).
Inchgower is now over a century and a half old. Like many Speyside distilleries, they supply most of their whisky to the blending industry, but sometimes there are single malt bottlings, such as this very affordable 12-year-old, sherry-matured one. 48.2%
If you like the earthy smokiness of Ledaig single malt whisky, then a bottle from this SV bottling is an excellent option to end the year! This malt from Mull matured for 17 years in a refill Oloroso sherry cask and is bottled at a remarkably high 65%.
The second edition in the Lichtburg Historic series from bottler Rolf Kaspar, and again it is a 15 year old Irish single malt whiskey. It was supplied by Jack Teeling in Dublin and matured in a cask that previously contained brandy. Bottled at 57.4%.
This is a bottling from almost 30 years ago, not as old as the medieval-looking label seems to suggest, but still... It is a 10-year-old Linkwood single malt whisky with the vintage year of 1984. A real 'old school' whisky. It was bottled at 50%.
This Linkwood 1997 from Signatory Vintage is one of those drams that you have to give the glass some time to open up completely. The 25-year-old Speyside single malt whisky, released in the Cask Strength Collection, matured in two ex-bourbon casks. 57.0%
The Un-Chillfiltered Collection from Signatory Vintage offers good whisky at a reasonable price. This 11-year-old Linkwood single malt whisky is released in that series. Those 11 years include a finishing in 1st fill Oloroso casks. It is bottled at 46%.
Speyside Distillery does not release bottlings of their single malt whisky. However, the brand became known due to the quality of bottlings by independent bottlers. This SV bottling is an 11-year-old, bourbon-matured Linkwood. It is bottled at 60.9%(!).
The longer the distillery was closed, the fewer Littlemill bottlings hit the market. We now have a bottle of a Malts of Scotland bottling from 2010. With its 20 years of aging in a bourbon cask, it is really something for the Littlemill enthusiast! 53.9%
A lot of discussion is going on about the distillery that supplied the whisky. It is a bottling from the Mac Talla series, the newest line by the Morrison family. Especially for Islay whiskies. This edition is called Mara (= Sea). Expect maritime notes!
Another bottling from the Mac Talla range, the Morrison family's special Islay series. It is a 15 year old single malt whisky matured in bourbon and sherry casks. It is unknown from which Islay distillery it comes, but maybe it is Caol Ila. Or Laphroaig..
A new series from Signatory Vintage: the Small Batch Edition. And this is the number 1 in that series: an 11-year-old Mortlach single malt whisky, matured in both bourbon and 1st-fill Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 48.2%. For a great price!
Edition #6 of Signatory Vintage's affordable Small Batch series is a 10-year-old Mortlach single malt whisky. What is unique about this bottling is that the whisky matured in casks in which Bolgheri wine, the Italian Bordeaux, first matured. (48.2%)
One of the series from Signatory Vintage is the Single Grain Collection, a series with very attractively priced bottlings of single grain whisky, not complex, easy to drink. This is a grain from the North British Distillery, 13 years old and at 43%.
Rare! Almost forgotten! Very tasty! To celebrate their 30th birthday, Signatory Vintage released this special bottling: a 36-year-old sherry cask matured North Port / Brechin single malt whisky. At cask strength of course. A collector's item.
As a tribute to Perth, their hometown and the birthplace of whisky blending, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers released this blended malt whisky. The various single malt whiskies in this blend matured in sherry casks. Bottled at cask strength (58.6%).
You don't often see the whisky from the Pulteney Distillery as a third-party bottling, so attention for Signatory Vintage edition! It is a 14-year-old Old Pulteney that aged on bourbon for the first 12 years and then 2 years in a sherry cask. (56.2%)
By putting HP in brackets on the label after 'Orkney 18', bottler Signatory Vintage gives a clear hint from which distillery this single malt whisky comes. The whisky from the Orkneys matured for 18 years in a 1st-fill Oloroso sherry cask. (55.8%)
We're not telling anything new by revealing that the name Orkney Islands hides the single malt whisky from Highland Park. And then you know that this will be a desirable bottling: the HP malt matured in a bourbon cask for twenty long years. (54.7%)
