Since its foundation in 1988, Signatory Vintage has grown into one of the three largest independent bottlers of single malt whisky. The number of bottlings from the company based in Pitlochry, Scotland, is now approaching 10,000. This includes many special ones, such as the Springbank 1969, which with 96 points is one of the three highest rated drams on Whiskybase.com.
Their bottlings appear in various series, such as the Cask Strength Collection, which is known for its beautiful, if somewhat clumsy, pouring bottles.
In 2002, Signatory Vintage became the owner of the Edradour Distillery.
The Un-Chillfiltered Collection from Signatory Vintage offers good whisky at a reasonable price. This 11-year-old Linkwood single malt whisky is released in that series. Those 11 years include a finishing in 1st fill Oloroso casks. It is bottled at 46%.
This Ben Nevis single malt whisky has been released in the new and affordable 100 Proof series from Signatory Vintage. Not just any Ben Nevis, but a heavily peated one! The malt matured for 4 years in a refill Oloroso cask. Bottled at 57.1% (=100 Proof).
The Cask Strength Collection from Signatory Vintage is not only known for the unique bottle design, but also for the quality of the whiskies bottled in it. Here is a 15-year-old Caol Ila single malt whisky, that matured in an Oloroso cask. (58.4%)
A new series from Signatory Vintage: the Small Batch Edition. And this is the number 1 in that series: an 11-year-old Mortlach single malt whisky, matured in both bourbon and 1st-fill Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 48.2%. For a great price!
Inchgower is now over a century and a half old. Like many Speyside distilleries, they supply most of their whisky to the blending industry, but sometimes there are single malt bottlings, such as this very affordable 12-year-old, sherry-matured one. 48.2%
According to the label, this is a bottling of a single malt whisky from a Speyside (M) distillery. Bottler Signatory Vintage gives a hint with that (M), and whisky connoisseurs know enough: it is a Macallan! 18 years old and sherry-matured. (57.9%)
Edition #6 of Signatory Vintage's affordable Small Batch series is a 10-year-old Mortlach single malt whisky. What is unique about this bottling is that the whisky matured in casks in which Bolgheri wine, the Italian Bordeaux, first matured. (48.2%)
This Craigellachie single malt whisky is released by Signatory Vintage in the Cask Strength Collection series. This is more than justified: the Speysider is bottled at a cask strength of no less than 68.2%! The malt aged for 11 years in an Oloroso cask.
In their well-known series The Un-Chillfiltered Collection, Signatory Vintage released this single malt whisky from the also well-known Ardmore Distillery in 2022. The mildly peated Highland malt aged for 12 years in 3 bourbon casks and was bottled at 46%
Glenrothes has built up a certain reputation with its own bottlings. But to taste a 25-year-old single malt whisky from this distillery at cask strength, you have to look at independent bottlers. This edition matured in two bourbon casks. Bottled at 50.9%
We don't have enough space to explain here why the name Whitlaw hides the single malt whisky of Highland Park, but that's what it is: 10 years old and matured in first and second-fill Oloroso casks, bottled at 46 %, for a reasonable price.
Signatory Vintage previously released a similar bottling: a 20-year-old Alt-à-Bhainne single malt whisky that matured for 6 months in a 'fresh' sherry cask. That edition had a good score. This new edition was finished on sherry for even 8 months. (52.4%)
The color of this single malt whisky suggests that it matured in sherry casks, the label refers to two hogsheads, which usually indicates bourbon casks. Anyway, this Dailuaine matured for 24 years in those casks and was bottled at cask strength: 57.6%.
Bottler Signatory Vintage also has an affordable bottling series for single grain whisky: The Single Grain Collection. In that series, this bottling of a 15-year-old grain from the Port Dundas Distillery, which closed in 2010, appeared in 2022. (43%)
The selectors at Signatory Vintage have proven to have a good nose for casks. This will be no different with this single malt whisky from Speyside distillery Benrinnes. In those casks, two bourbon hogsheads, the malt matured for 25 years. (56.9%)
It closed twenty years ago, the Caperdonich Distillery, and quite a few people still think that's a shame. Signatory Vintage now has a nice bottling on offer for those people. A 22-year-old, bourbon-aged edition! The single malt whisky is bottled at 55.9%
You don't often see the whisky from the Pulteney Distillery as a third-party bottling, so attention for Signatory Vintage edition! It is a 14-year-old Old Pulteney that aged on bourbon for the first 12 years and then 2 years in a sherry cask. (56.2%)
By putting HP in brackets on the label after 'Orkney 18', bottler Signatory Vintage gives a clear hint from which distillery this single malt whisky comes. The whisky from the Orkneys matured for 18 years in a 1st-fill Oloroso sherry cask. (55.8%)
If you like the earthy smokiness of Ledaig single malt whisky, then a bottle from this SV bottling is an excellent option to end the year! This malt from Mull matured for 17 years in a refill Oloroso sherry cask and is bottled at a remarkably high 65%.
This Linkwood 1997 from Signatory Vintage is one of those drams that you have to give the glass some time to open up completely. The 25-year-old Speyside single malt whisky, released in the Cask Strength Collection, matured in two ex-bourbon casks. 57.0%
Rare! Almost forgotten! Very tasty! To celebrate their 30th birthday, Signatory Vintage released this special bottling: a 36-year-old sherry cask matured North Port / Brechin single malt whisky. At cask strength of course. A collector's item.
Not very well known, the Dailuaine distillery, and then this nicely priced bottling is a great option to get acquainted with their single malt whisky. The whisky matured for 10 years in bourbon casks that were first scraped and then re-charred. (46%)
The Braeval Distillery has not released any bottlings except for two. Still, their single malt whisky is worth bottling. And that's where bottlers like Signatory Vintage enter the stage. This Braeval is 21 years old and is still at 60.3%. Aged on sherry.
North British is one of Scotland's largest grain distilleries. There are hardly any distillery bottlings of their single grain whisky, but fortunately, there are bottlings by third parties. A very nicely priced one is this one from Signatory Vintage. (46%
