The Islay Boys are Donald MacKenzie from Port Charlotte and Mackay Smith from Portnahaven on whisky island Islay. As enthusiastic whisky lovers (how could it be otherwise with such places of residence) they decided to take up the bottling and blending of whisky themselves. Their first bottlings were released in 2018. The single malt whisky from unnamed distilleries is released under the Bårelegs label, their blends are released under the Flatnöse label. The Islay Boys explain on the bottles where those label names come from .
An affordable blended malt scotch whisky, this Flatnöse from The Islay Boys. This bottling is said to contain 7 Speyside and 2 Islay single malts. Slightly smoky, honey, citrus, these are some of the keywords for this small-batch blend. Bottled at 46%.
A pleasantly drinkable and reasonably priced dram, this blended Scotch whisky from The Islay Boys. A nice bottle to share with others or as a daily dram. A hint of smoke, a little pepper, toffee, tangerines ... it is said to contain 12 whiskies. (43%)
Under the Flatnöse label, The Islay Boys release their blended whisky: blended malt, or blended scotch whisky like this one. It is finished on rum casks. The notes of dark cane sugar are clearly recognizable, in addition to rich vanilla. Bottled at 43%.
