Glenkinchie, located close to Edinburgh, is one of the three remaining malt whisky distilleries of more than a hundred that were once in the Lowlands. According to Glenkinchie themselves they were already there in 1825, but with a different name. In practical terms, 1880 is the 'birth year'. But what does it matter ...Glenkinchie was one of the few distilleries that remained open during WWI. Since the end of the last century, Glenkinchie has released every year a bottling in The Distillers Edition, but there are few other distillery bottlings.
A bottling from twenty years ago. This Glenkinchie 10-Year-Old from The Edinburgh Malt series dates back to 2006. This single malt whisky clearly displays the mild, fruity notes that characterise Lowlands whiskies. (43% ABV)
