The Tobermory Distillery was founded in 1798 under the name Ledaig in the picturesque capital city of Tobermory on the Scottish island of Mull. This makes the distillery one of the oldest in Scotland. Over the years, the single malt whisky distillery experienced quite a few closing periods and various owner changes. The distillery releases a non-peated single malt with the Tobermory label, the peated variety has the Ledaig brand name. All the spirit of the Tobermory distillery first goes to the mainland to be put in casks at the Deanston Distillery, and then the casks go to the warehouses of Bunnahabhain on Islay.
The new Tobermory 12 was released in 2019 to celebrate that the Tobermory single malt whisky distillery opened after two years of maintenance work. This whisky matured for 12 years in bourbon barrels and is bottled at 46.3%. A nice business card!
Chapter 7 is the bottling company of a Swiss who moved to Scotland. Always looking for special whiskies. And this is one of them: it's a 28 year old single malt whisky from the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. Matured in a bourbon cask. (52% ABV)
