The Tobermory Distillery was founded in 1798 under the name Ledaig in the picturesque capital city of Tobermory on the Scottish island of Mull. This makes the distillery one of the oldest in Scotland. Over the years, the single malt whisky distillery experienced quite a few closing periods and various owner changes. The distillery releases a non-peated single malt with the Tobermory label, the peated variety has the Ledaig brand name. All the spirit of the Tobermory distillery first goes to the mainland to be put in casks at the Deanston Distillery, and then the casks go to the warehouses of Bunnahabhain on Islay.
In 2008, Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull released this Limited Edition of its single malt whisky. The 15-year-old malt was finished in González Byass Oloroso sherry casks, producing a richly sherried, beautifully balanced dram. (46.3% ABV)
