The new Tobermory 12 was released in 2019 to celebrate that the Tobermory single malt whisky distillery opened after two years of maintenance work. This whisky matured for 12 years in bourbon barrels and is bottled at 46.3%. A nice business card!
Speyside distillery Tamdhu, specialized in sherryed single malt whisky, releases a whisky with a modern profile. It matured in sherry casks for 15 years. In addition to the abundant sherry influences, this also results in an oily mouthfeel.

This Komagatake edition of the Japanese Shinshu Mars distillery has distinctive, subtle smoky wood and peat notes in the background. The single malt whisky also has that salty and fruity notes of the Komagatake series. An elegant dram.
This Maltage from the Japanese Shinshu Mars distillery is a blend of single malt whiskies. Of course there is a single malt from Shinshu itself. But also Scottish malt. It is a rich, well-balanced, non-complex and pleasantly drinkable whisky.
This single malt whisky from Macallan matured for 12 years on 'Sherry Seasoned American & European Oak'. This is a good example of a modern-style Macallan: less complex and with less emphasis on 'sherry' than the classic drams of this brand. Curious?
This is a core bottling from Highland distillery Old Pulteney. This 18-year-old single malt whisky is clearly finished in quality sherry casks. Full of flavor, smooth and mild, with the sherry notes harmoniously in balance with the Old Pulteney character.
A 28-year-old Loch Lomond single malt whisky is quite rare. Bottler Whisky-Doris released one at the end of 2018. A typical Loch Lomond, full and rich in taste through its age. Matured in a bourbon barrel and bottled at cask strength (48.7%).
Something different! 44 months young, this single malt from Stokerij De Molenberg. This Belgian whisky is soft, with notes of grass, vanilla, green banana and apple, and also some peach. Matured on bourbon, finished in beer casks. At 46%.
If you like sweet and fruit, a little spicy, then this 12-year-old standard Glenrothes comes into the picture. Matured in sherry casks, filled at 40%, and at a reasonable price, this Speyside malt is a good choice.
This Canadian rye whisky is made from locally harvested rye and distilled in two rounds in pot-stills. De Lot No. 40 is intense in aroma and taste. Of course there are notes of rye bread, but also of oak, herbs and vanilla. A classic rye whisky!
Tomintoul whisky has a light profile. Almost the entire production is for the blends, but 2% is bottled as single malt. Like this 10 year old. With its floral, fresh-fruity notes and hints of wood, honey and vanilla a nice 'all day dram'.
An 'entry model' this Bowmore Legend. For those who want to get to know this medium-smoky Islay single malt whisky. Or for those who always want to have a standard Bowmore in the cupboard. Matured in bourbon barrels and bottled at 46%.
Rare! Almost forgotten! Very tasty! To celebrate their 30th birthday, Signatory Vintage released this special bottling: a 36-year-old sherry cask matured North Port / Brechin single malt whisky. At cask strength of course. A collector's item.
A successful example of a 'modern' sherryed single malt whisky, this 10-year-old Macduff from Gordon & MacPhail. Aroma and taste are uncomplicated, with clearly recognizable sherry tones. A pleasantly drinkable dram for an evening with friends!
Dutch bottler Van Wees released this 15-year-old Longmorn single malt whisky in their series The Ultimate-Cask Strength. The whisky aged on a bourbon cask. This dram has fruity Longmorn notes, vanilla and honey from the cask, and feels oily in the mouth.
This 12-year-old single malt whisky is complex and balanced and clearly shows the profile of the peated Tobermory that the Ledaig brand stands for. It aged on bourbon and sherry casks and Gordon & MacPhail bottled it in their entry-level series Discovery.
The oldest of the single malt core series from Glenallachie, which previously produced almost exclusively blended whisky. Matured in American oak and PX sherry casks, filled at 48%. A delicious single malt, this 25-year-old Speyside.
Released on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Bladnoch Distillery. This single malt is a mix of whisky that matured on bourbon and Samsara wine casks. This resulted in a complex, yet easily drinkable dram. Not a moment boring, this Bladnoch.
This Elijah Craig bourbon whiskey is a Small Batch release. The small batch process provides a more balanced and smooth whiskey. This pleasant, warm bourbon from the Heaven Hill family matured in charred oak barrels and has an ABV of 47%.
