Taiwan's Yuan Shan Distillery makes single malt whisky under the Kavalan brand. Especially known are the Soloist single-cask bottlings of which several thousand are already released. This Soloist aged in an Oloroso sherry cask. (54.8% ABV)
The fact that single malt whisky often matures in sherry casks is nothing special, but maturation in fino sherry casks is. Fino is a dry sherry that matured under a layer of yeast, the 'flor'. That gives an extra taste experience to this Kilchoman. (50%)

From the Richly Matured series, this 15-year-old Knockando aged in bourbon and sherry casks. A fairly complex malt with, besides the floral and fruity Speyside notes, sherry influences such as cinnamon, chocolate and apple sauce. Bottled at 43%.
You don't often come across the single malt whisky from the Speyside distillery Knockdhu as an independent bottling. But here's one from bottler Chapter 7. The malt is 16 years old and it matured in a bourbon cask that produced 334 bottles at 51.5%.
This Knockdhu single malt whisky (also known as anCnoc) matured for 16 years in a second-fill Oloroso cask before being bottled by Signatory Vintage at 56.9% ABV. It's not a sherry bomb, but rather a subtly sherried, well-balanced dram.
We've picked up some great Lagavulins: Special Release bottlings from the first decade of this century. These are 12 year old Lagavulin single malt whiskies bottled at cask strength. So this bottle is from 2008 and at 56.4% strength.
