In 2018, the first new make spirit came from the stills of Lochlea, a farm converted into a distillery in the Lowlands. Now, several dozen bottlings later, there is this 4-year-old exclusive single cask bottling, matured in a sherry cask. (60.3%)
You don't come across Glenlossie single malt whisky very often, especially not a 40-year-old Glenlossie! What makes this bottling from Gordon & MacPhail even more special is the high cask strength of 60.2% after four decades in a bourbon cask.
You don't often see whisky finished on Malaga casks, and certainly not Irish whisky. That makes this 14-year-old Bushmills single malt quite special. First, it matured in bourbon casks (1st fill + 2nf fill), and then for a year in Malaga casks. (40%)
This is the 8th edition in bottler Signatory Vintage's new, affordable Small Batch series. It is an 11 year old Glenallachie single malt whisky. The Speysider matured in Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled at the Small Batch standard of 48.2%.
A new Ardnamurchan Core Batch, a standard whisky from the young distillery. A feature of the Ardnamurchan single malt bottlings is that they are 50:50 peated/unpeated, and matured for 65% in bourbon and 35% in sherry casks. (6 years old, 46.8%)
An assemblage of 24 of Waterford's Single Farm Origin Whiskies. At the time of release, Waterford's "oldest and most complex" core range whisky.
In 2011, the Isle of Arran Distillery released this special bottling, 'Sleeping Warrior', in 6000 bottles. The single malt whisky matured for more than 10 years in sherry, bourbon and red wine casks and was bottled at 54.9%. Youthful and complex.
This 16-year-old single malt whisky from the Double Cask Matured series by distillery Aberlour is a must for fans of non-smoky, fruity sherried whisky. The influence of the bourbon barrel in the background gives this dram extra depth. Bottled at 43%.
'Finealta' is Gaelic for 'elegant', and this 2010 bottling from Glenmorangie certainly is! The single malt whisky matured in Oloroso sherry casks and American oak casks. Creamy and full in the mouth with fruity, wood, vanilla and sherry notes. (46%)
More than twenty years ago, Highland distillery Glenmorangie released this Ealanta. The single malt whisky matured in American white oak casks for 19 years. The whisky scored high with its complex palette of notes and aromas. (bottled at 46%)
At the end of 2014, the Glenmorangie Distillery bottled in the Legends series this The Duthac, named after a Scottish pilgrimage. The single malt whisky matured partly in Pedro Ximénez and virgin oak casks. A lightly sherried dram. (46%)
In 1985, Highland distillery Glenury Royal closed permanently. Before and after, relatively few bottlings of their single malt whisky were released, but they almost always scored very high. This also applies to this 29-year-old Rare Malts edition. (57%)
Next to Highland distillery Glen Ord there is a malting house for regional barley. This supplies the malt from which the Glen Ord single malt whisky is distilled. In 1997, a 23-year-old bottling of that whisky appeared in the Rare Malts Selection. (59.8%)
The young Speyside distillery Ballindalloch bottled this over 8-year-old Vintage single malt whisky in a small edition, especially for the Benelux. It matured in bourbon and sherry casks and was bottled at 48.5%. A great option to get to know this newby!
You see them more and more, bottlings of Staiosha, the peated version of Bunnahabhain single malt whisky. That says something about its popularity. A special bottling is this 6-year-old from Brachadair: 64 bottles came from a small sherry cask at 62.1%.
A new 100 whisky by the Dutch Zuidam distillery. A 100 Rye Whisky: 100 proof, about 100 months old, 100% rye, 100% milled by Dutch mills, 100% small pot still distillation, 100% aged in new American oak and... well, too many 100% to mention! A 100% whisky
In the single malt core series from Glenallachie, which previously produced almost exclusively for blended whisky, this 18-year-old has matured in sherry casks and finished in virgin oak. A very drinkable standard bottling at 46%.
The Springbank Distillery still produces whisky from barley to bottling, which is why the single malt whisky is appreciated by many. In 2016, Springbank released this 21-year-old, very high-scoring, sherried single-cask bottling. It is bottled at 47.5%.
To celebrate its 35th anniversary, the Italian quality bottler Samaroli released this almost 30-year-old, sherry-matured Banff single malt whisky in 2003. Banff whisky is already a collector's item, but this Samaroli edition is extra special! (45% ABV)
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Springbank Society, a celebratory bottling was released for members in 2014. It is a 14-year-old single malt whisky made from local barley and matured in a sherry cask. The members were very enthusiastic! (57.8%)
Cnoc na Moine, the Heath Hill, is the title of Chapter 3 in the Legacy Series of the Torabhaig Distillery on the Isle of Skye, subtitled Smoke & Brine. A peated single malt whisky, yes! It matured in cask types such as bourbon, PX and oloroso. (46%)
Under the brand The Hearach, the young, artisanal The Isle of Harris Distillery on the Scottish island of the same name distils single malt whisky. The whisky aged in various bourbon and sherry casks. (46%)
Glenmorangie is one of the pioneers of whisky finishing. This bottle is an excellent example of this: we estimate that it was bottled sometime in the 1990s, as the label also indicates. The single malt whisky is finished in sherry casks. (43%)
