Ben Nevis Coire Leis

Without much fanfare, Ben Nevis Distillery has redesigned its labels and revamped its range of standard bottlings. This Core Leis is an example of that: an 'entry level' NAS (8 to 10 years?) single malt whisky matured in 1st-fill bourbon casks. (46%)

Glenallachie 08-year-old

This 8 year old Glenallachie matured in an interesting range of oak casks: Pedro Ximenéz, oloroso, wine and virgin oak casks. That gives this relatively young single malt whisky an unexpected depth. Sweet, spicy and creamy in the mouth. Bottled at 46%.

Tamdhu 18-year-old

This Tamdhu is a limited edition distillery bottling, not a standard edition. The Speyside single malt whisky matured in an oloroso sherry cask for 18 years, resulting in a complex, layered dram, with distinct sherry notes of course. Bottled at 46.8%.

Miltonduff 2008 Acorn

A joint bottling between bottler Acorn and ARen Trading, this Miltonduff single malt whisky. Speyside distillery Miltonduff exists nearly a century and its whisky often appears as an independent bottling. Like this 12 year old, 62.6% (!) strong edition.

Lochindaal 2010 Acorn

The Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay makes an unpeated single malt whisky under its own name. They also produce the heavily peated Port Charlotte and the very heavily peated Octomore. And Lochindaal, which is in between. This one is 10 years old. (63.3%)

Wolfburn 2015 Father's Day Edition 2022

Father's Day is coming up again, and then Wolfburn is one of those distilleries that thinks with us about a suitable gift. This is their Father's Day Edition: a 7 year old single malt whisky matured in both sherry and bourbon casks, bottled at 58.2%.

Cley Whisky Dutch Single Malt Whisky - 40%

And yet another batch of single malt whisky from the Cley distillery in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. Triple distilled, and bottled at a strength of 40%. Matured in an ex-bourbon cask and finished in toasted new American oak. Intense and full of flavour.

Macallan 1975 - 25-years-old

A 1975 Macallan! The lovers of 'old school' sherried single malt whisky are now immediately alerted! This is a 25 year old Anniversary Malt, bottled in the year 2000. And of course matured in classic ex-sherry casks. A rare bottle now. (43%)

High Wheeler 21-year-old The New Zealand Whisky Company - 350ml

This High Wheeler is a blend of single malt and grain whisky from the New Zealand Willowbank Distillery, which closed in 1997. The casks that remained after closing were bought by The New Zealand Whisky Company, that released this 21-year-old blend. 43%

Cley Whisky Malt & Rye - 46%

In addition to single malt whisky, the Rotterdam Cley Distillery also makes whisky based on malt and rye. The Whisky is distilled three times according to a 17th century recipe. This is a new batch of this Malt & Rye. 3 years old and bottled at 46% ABV.

Royal Brackla 2011 Duncan Taylor

Long ago, Royal Brackla's single malt whisky was the first malt used in the 'invention' of the blended whisky. But you can still taste Brackla whisky in its pure form. Like this 10-year-old bottling by Duncan Taylor that matured in a sherry cask. 53.8%

Amrut Peated Indian Cask Strength

The Indian distillery Amrut proves with its Peated Indian bottlings that they can also produce nicely peated single malt whiskies. And that also applies to the Cask strength version. At 62.8%, it is strong in alcohol.

Isle of Jura 10-year-old

Jura is located just above Islay, famous for its peated whisky. The Jura whisky is not peated. You'll find honey and fresh fruit and a bit saltiness in the profile. As is also the case with this 10-year-old. With a 40% and nice price a good entry-level.

Glenfiddich 12-year-old

Speyside distillery Glenfiddich is the world's largest producer of single malt. And this 12-year-old standard bottling is their most popular product. Matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, this is a soft, pleasantly drinkable all-day dram.

Royal Lochnagar 12-year-old

A bottling from a modest distillery with a royal warrant. The Royal Lochnager 12 is a good standard bottling, especially considering the favorable price. This single malt whisky easily drinks away. A whisky for every day.

BenRiach Peated Cask Strength - Batch 1

In 2016 Speyside Distillery BenRiach released the first batch in their Peated Cask Strength series. So, peated in contrast to their usual single malt whisky. And at cask strength (here 56%). The malt matured in small (quarter) and Oloroso sherry casks.

Deanston 15-year-old Organic

The label does not inform us on this matter, but we assume that 'Organic' refers to organic barley. Furthermore, this 15-year-old Deanston single malt whisky is an excellent example of the honey-flower-malt character of this Highland distillery.

Redbreast Lustau Edition

We do not know the age of this Redbreast single pot-still whiskey, but we do know that it finished in 1st fill sherry casks. You can tell this by the typical sherry notes that are well balanced with the pot still notes. It remains a real Irish whiskey.

Green Spot Léoville Barton

This Green Spot Château Léoville Barton is a 3x distilled single pot still whiskey according to Irish tradition. It first matured in sherry and bourbon casks, and then matured in Bordeaux casks made of French oak. A fruity Irish whiskey for a nice price.

Writers' Tears Copper Pot

Uncomplicated, light and yet full of flavor. That is how you could describe this Irish blended malt. A whisky for every day or, in terms of price too, a nice entry-level dram. It is not known which distilleries produced the malt, but what does it matter?

Glenallachie 2008 Whisky-Fässle

The German quality bottler Whisky-Fässle released this bottling in 2021, with a greater scaup duck on the label and a 12-year-old Glenallachie in the bottle. The single malt whisky matured in a large sherry cask and was bottled at 51.7% cask strength.

Arran Sherry Cask

A special bottling from the Arran Distillery. The single malt whisky matured in a 250 liter sherry cask and was bottled at 55.8% cask strength. A complex dram with sherry notes such as dark chocolate, figs and cherries. With notes of ginger and spices too

Glenlossie 1966 Cadenhead's

Not often do we have a whisky that is almost half a century old in the store. But now we do! This Glenlossie single malt whisky went in a bourbon cask in 1966 and was bottled by Cadenhead in 2014! A real old school dram, fruity with a hint of smoke. 43,5%

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked

Woodford Reserve is one of the oldest distilleries in Kentucky and still produces according to tradition. With this bottling, the straight bourbon whiskey has undergone a second maturation on a different 'white oak' barrel. For an extra rich taste.
