It's been almost twenty years since this Talisker was released in the Friends of the Classic Malts series (and among the first 500 whiskies in the Whiskybase). The peated single malt whisky from the Isle of Skye matured for 12 years in sherry casks. 45.8%
Almost all bottlings of Inchgower single malt whisky come from independent bottlers. This bottling is an exception because it was released in 2004 after 27 years of maturation as a Rare Malts Selection from distillery owner Diageo. (bottled at 55.6% ABV)
Some call this a 'summer whisky' or aperitif because of its light, fruity and uncomplicated character. This 12-year-old single malt whisky from Highland distillery Fettercairn matured in bourbon barrels and is bottled at 40%.
Speyside distillery Tamdhu, specialized in sherryed single malt whisky, releases a whisky with a modern profile. It matured in sherry casks for 15 years. In addition to the abundant sherry influences, this also results in an oily mouthfeel.
You don't see them that often anymore, bottlings from Scott’s Selection. But here we have a Bruichladdich malt whisky from 1990 in the well-known 750 ml bottle. For a price significantly lower than the current market value! A bottle for the collector!
This Loyal Old Mature blended scotch whisky proves that Adelphi does not only release bottlings in the higher quality and price range. With its price / quality ratio, this Old mature can compete well in the world of well-known blends.
Bottled for the Dutch market, this Highland Park single malt whisky. A sturdy, nicely sherryed whisky that needs some time to get balanced, but then you will taste not only tobacco, leather and tea, but also sweet notes such as raisins and chocolate.
A great bottle to get acquainted with the Paul John single malt whisky from the Indian John Distilleries. The Nirvana takes you along the versatile Paul John spectrum of scents and flavors in the non-peated version. At 40% a dram for everyone.
This is a core bottling from Highland distillery Old Pulteney. This 18-year-old single malt whisky is clearly finished in quality sherry casks. Full of flavor, smooth and mild, with the sherry notes harmoniously in balance with the Old Pulteney character.
The Singleton of Glendullan is a single malt whisky from the Glendullan Distillery that is actually only intended for the American market. Under the Game of Thrones banner, it is now available worldwide. A not too complex, easy-to-drink dram. (40%)
If you like sweet and fruit, a little spicy, then this 12-year-old standard Glenrothes comes into the picture. Matured in sherry casks, filled at 40%, and at a reasonable price, this Speyside malt is a good choice.
The youngest in the new core series of The Glenrothes. Matured in sherry casks for 10 years, but not a heavily sherried whisky. Lots of fruity and sweet notes, honey and even a hint of cheese. A good introduction to this Speyside distillery.
This Canadian rye whisky is made from locally harvested rye and distilled in two rounds in pot-stills. De Lot No. 40 is intense in aroma and taste. Of course there are notes of rye bread, but also of oak, herbs and vanilla. A classic rye whisky!
Tomintoul whisky has a light profile. Almost the entire production is for the blends, but 2% is bottled as single malt. Like this 10 year old. With its floral, fresh-fruity notes and hints of wood, honey and vanilla a nice 'all day dram'.
An early single malt bottling from Japanese distiller Eigashima Shuzo. The bottle does not mention age, but this must be a young whisky. Yet the taste palette is already nicely developed, and it has that modest, elegant Japanese character in the nose.
