The young Glendalough Distillery near Dublin specializes in maturing and finishing their craft whisky in special casks. This single pot still whiskey is finished in a cask made from an oak that stood in Ireland's Wicklow Mountains. Bottled 43%.
In the Japanese Alps, in the middle of the forest, the Hakushu Distillery is located since 1973. The single malt whisky they make is characterized by light, fruity notes with a hint of smoke. Notes that you will also find in this Distiller's Reserve. 43%

This Balblair single malt whisky aged for 15 years in bourbon and sherry casks. In its role as one of the core bottlings of the Highland distillery, it is nicely balanced between light and exotic fruit, with notes of chocolate, raisins and toffee. (46%)
Longrow is the peated single malt whisky from the Springbank Distillery. There are standard Longrow bottlings, and special editions such as the Red batches. That 'Red' refers to the Tawny port casks in which the whisky aged for 4 of the 11 years. (57.5%)
The Miyagikyo distillery of the Japanese Nikka not only makes grain whisky, but also single malt. Such as this ageless bottling, for which a special, aromatic yeast was used during production. Not complex, nutty, fruity and sweet and well-balanced. (47%)
Inchmoan is a brand of the Loch Lomond Distillery, under which it releases a peated single malt whisky. This 'Rich Smoke and Spice' is a combination of spirit from the traditional pot still and the Loch Lomond still, aged for 12 years in bourbon casks.
To celebrate that Irish whiskey is on the rise again, the Teeling family is releasing a number of special single malt whiskies in the Rising Reserve series. The first in this series is a malt that first matured in bourbon and then in Carcavelos casks. 46%
New to Elixir Distillers' Elements of Islay series are the Islay blended malt whiskies. Released not in the well-known 50 cl, but in 70 cl bottles. Like this blend of Islay single malt whiskies, that matured in ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 54.5%.
In the Elements of Islay series, Elixir Distillers now also releases blended malts. Which Islay single malt whiskies are in this blend is unknown. Matured in sherry casks, the blend is given the keywords smoked tea, autumn fruit and winter spices. (54.5%)

This is the third batch in the Inaugural Release series from the fledgling Lagg Distillery on Arran. Firmly peated, as all Lagg bottlings will be, and finished in Rioja casks. A full, uncomplicated and promising young single malt whisky. Bottled at 50%.
One of the core bottlings of Highland single malt whisky Balblair, and at the age of 12 also the youngest of the lot. Pretty fruity, not very complex and pleasant to drink. A whisky not to be difficult about, a great dram for an evening with friends.
Already 9 years ago this 18 year old Highland Park single malt whisky was bottled. This is a standard bottling from the distillery. It still produces an 18-year-old standard malt. This is a nice option to compare them. Is there a significant difference?
Chapter 7 is not only a bottler, but also a blender. This is the 2nd batch in the Prologue series of their Blended Malt Scotch Whisky. Which single malt whiskies are used for this blend and their age is not known. But there's peated malt in it. (47.9%)
It will no longer be a secret that the name Orkney hides a Highland Park single malt whisky. This Chapter 7 bottling of the famous Island whisky is 8 years old. During that period it matured in a red wine cask. Bottled at a cask strength of 52.8%.
Orkney is not a whisky brand. If a bottler releases an edition with 'Orkney' in the name, it will be Highland Park single malt whisky from the distillery of the same name in the Orkneys. So this is a 16-year-old, bourbon cask-matured HP whisky. (54%)
You don't often come across the single malt whisky from the Speyside distillery Knockdhu as an independent bottling. But here's one from bottler Chapter 7. The malt is 16 years old and it matured in a bourbon cask that produced 334 bottles at 51.5%.
Chapter 7 is the bottling company of a Swiss who moved to Scotland. Always looking for special whiskies. And this is one of them: it's a 28 year old single malt whisky from the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. Matured in a bourbon cask. (52% ABV)
We do not know which Islay distillery produced this single malt whisky. What we do know is that it is a special, because 31 year old, Islay malt. And that it matured in a bourbon cask and was bottled at 51.9% cask strength. Are you also curious?
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977, bottler Gordon & MacPhail released this 25 year old Macallan single malt whisky. A special bottle then, but now, 45 years later, extra special. And it scores high! (bottled at 40%)
Specially for sale at airports, this Dark Storm is from the Talisker distillery on the Scottish island of Skye. A standard bottling in a liter bottle. For a long time Talisker was the only distillery on the island, recently there is a second one. Hence.
Has the distillery profile of this Bunnahabhain single malt whisky been preserved after 9 years aging in a sherry cask? Knowing bottler Valinch & Mallet, it almost have to. Combined with the sweetness and notes of stewed fruit from the sherry cask. 52.8%
