This US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye is a somewhat older bottling from Michter's Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. A single-cask bottling, with the flavour profile naturally featuring rye notes, but also caramel, vanilla, maple syrup, and spices. 42.4%
Michter’s calls this bottling an Unblended American Whiskey because it cannot be called a bourbon: the whiskey matured not in new oak barrels, but in ex-bourbon barrels. That maturation on bourbon ensures at least a more intense, fuller taste!
Since 2007, Zuidam Distillers has been releasing rye whisky and Dutch single malt whisky bottlings under the Millstone label. A single malt released in 2024 is this 6-year-old dram matured in Oloroso sherry casks. At 46% and for a reasonable price.
