Port Charlotte has established itself this century among the big names in smoky Islay whiskies. It is one of two heavily peated single malt whiskies from the Bruichladdich distillery. And this is the 10-year-old standard PC, the 2020 release. (50%)
This Port Charlotte bottling label lists the names of the Islay farms that supplied the barley for this edition. This firmly peated Bruichladdich whisky is therefore a real Islay single malt. 7 years old, partly matured in red wine casks, bottled at 50%.
This 12-year-old John's Lane Release is a standard bottling from the Irish brand Powers. It is a single pot still whiskey from the Midleton distillery that matured in bourbon and sherry casks. Like many Irish whiskeys, this one is also triple distilled.
A blended Irish whiskey, nice for a change from the Scotch blends! This Powers Gold Label from the Irish Midleton distillery has, of course, been distilled three times, as befits an Irish whiskey, and bottled at 43.2%. For a very reasonable price.
Since 2017, there is a distillery on the small Scottish island of Raasay. They produce artisanal single malt whisky in relatively small batches. This 4-year-old Raasay single malt matured entirely in Marsala barriques and is bottled at 50.7% ABV.
Since 2017, the Raasay Distillery has been active on the island of the same name. After some 180 previous releases, this is The Draam, half distilled from peated and half from unpeated barley malt and matured in rye, chinquapin, and red wine casks. 46.4%
If you don't have much space left in your whisky cabinet, this Big Peat bottling is the perfect solution: in one bottle, you have 4.5 litres of blended Islay single malt whisky in stock! This is a bottle from a 2012 bottling. (46.0% ABV)
The history of Rebel whiskies goes back to 1849. Instead of distilling bourbon whiskey from corn and rye, the founders of Rebel Yell made their bourbon from corn and wheat. That makes this bourbon unique to this day. This edition is bottled at 55% ABV.
Red Spot is the brand of a well-regarded single pot still whiskey from the Irish Midleton (1975-) distillery, known for its Green Spot whisky. This Red Spot bottling matured for 15 years in a combination of bourbon, sherry and Marsala casks. (46%)
If you want to taste an Irish single pot still whiskey at cask strength, this 12 year old Redbreast is an option. Aged in bourbon and sherry casks. Pot still whiskey is made from barley malt and unmalted barley. This batch is at 57.2% cask strength.
With this 15-year-old Redbreast, the Irish Midleton distillery sets a good example of a pot-still whiskey. The whiskey is made from malted and un-malted barley, and after triple distillation matured in bourbon and sherry casks. At 46%.
The Redbreast 18-year-old is a new core bottling from this brand. The single pot-still whisky matured in a unique combination of casks: bourbon, Ruby Port, Oloroso and Cream Sherry. This resulted in a creamy, fruity and spicy, very drinkable dram. (46%)
We do not know the age of this Redbreast single pot-still whiskey, but we do know that it finished in 1st fill sherry casks. You can tell this by the typical sherry notes that are well balanced with the pot still notes. It remains a real Irish whiskey.
This Redbreast single pot-still whisky from the Irish Middleton Distillery is, in true Irish style, naturally triple distilled, but this edition in The Iberian Series also matured in a special combination of cask types: bourbon, Oloroso, and Moscatel! 46%
Douglas Laing is known for its blended malt whiskies. Their motto is: 'If a single malt is a violin, then a blended malt is an entire orchestra!'. Well-known are, for example, their Big Peat-blended Islay malts. This is also included in this tasting kit.
This Remus Repeal Reserve is a blend of five straight bourbon whiskeys from 8 to 14 years old. The share of rye in the mashbill of this bourbons ranges from 21% to 36%. The Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana released here a top bourbon. 50%
The Reservoir Distillery started in 2008 in Richmond, Virginia. The distillery wants to create its own tradition with distilling whisky. This Virginia Rye is an example of that. Made from 100% rye and matured in 'alligator charred' quarter casks. (50%)
Under the Rock Oyster label, Douglas Laing releases blended malt whiskies, such as this 18-year-old. This is a successful blend with single malt island whiskies from Orkney, Arran, Jura and Islay. A full, powerful and smoky dram, sweet and creamy.

This blended malt whisky, the Rock Oyster Sherry Edition, was released in 2017. Douglas Laing's Rock Oyster bottlings are blends of malt whiskies from the Scottish islands of Islay, Arran, the Orkneys, and Jura. This edition matured in sherry casks. 46.8%
Rossville Union is the brand under which the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana, US, releases rye whisky. They do this according to a traditional recipe and process. This Master Crafted edition is 5 years old and aged in freshly charred oak casks. (47%)
The Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, produces rye whisky in addition to bourbon. This Rossville Union is an excellent example of that. Traditionally produced, it aged for 7 years in charred American oak casks, and bottled at 58.5%.
