The Bunnahabhain Distillery on whisky island Islay mainly produces non-peated single malt whisky, but they make also smoky drams. Take the Toiteach a Dhà (Gaelic for 'Smoky Two'), for example: matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46.3%.

James Eadie bottled this Caol Ila in 2026. The medium-peated Islay single malt matured for 8 years, of which the last 6 months in a Palo Cortado sherry cask made of European oak. That finish enriched the Caol Ila profile with subtle sweet notes. (48.3%)
A nice example of the distillery character, this 12-year-old Caol Ila. Tough and yet subtle, and nicely balanced with the smoke and peat notes typical of Caol Ila. A good and affordable entry into the world of 'peated' Islay whisky.
With the series in which this Caol Ila single malt whisky was released, James Eadie commemorates the Distilleries of Great Britain & Ireland. This Islay malt matured for 12 years in a re-charred ex-bourbon cask before being bottled at 52.3% cask strength.
A 35-year-old Caol Ila! That's the subject of chapter 28 of Decadent Drinks' epic, Whiskyland. This Islay single malt was filled into a bourbon cask in 1990 and bottled in early 2026 at 44.5% ABV. A truly old-school dram, oily and full of flavour!

This Cley single malt whisky matured for 3 years in a bourbon cask and 1.5 years in a Palo Cortado octave. Palo Cortado is a fairly rare sherry with the fullness of Oloroso and the freshness of Amontillado. You can really taste that in this dram. (52%)
