The ninth Lagavulin bottling in Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2018. The single malt whisky was matured in 2 ex-Laphroaig casks and bottled at 57.6% cask strength. It has received a score of 88 points on Whiskybase so far.
The eighth Caol Ila bottling in Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2017. The single malt whisky was matured in five bourbon casks and bottled at 55.2% cask strength. It has received a score of about 86 points on Whiskybase so far.
This bottling is the successful result of a collaboration between the Teeling Whiskey Company and the Belgian brewery Duvel Moortgat. The Irish blended whisky matured in Belgian beer casks, resulting in a drinkable, smooth whisky, that is bottled at 46%.
Compass Box calls this bottling 'our majestic king'. Matured in sherry and red wine casks, the whisky got a crimson colour. King Crimson. In addition to the colour, the casks also gave the blend intense notes of chocolate, plum jam and red currant. (46%)
That Compass Box is a specialist in the inventive blending of Scotch whisky is also made clear with this edition in their Core Collection. The Nectarosity is a blend of malt and grain whiskies with a wealth of honey, fruit and toasted oak notes. 46%
Don't be put off by the nasty monster on the label! For this Peat Monster, Compass Box brought together a range of peated, bourbon-matured malt whiskies, from those with a sweet smoke to those with heavy peat tones. A blended malt for a great price! (46%)
Loch Lomond's Inchmurrin single malt whisky is unique because it's distilled using the Loch Lomond straight-neck pot stills. This 12-year-old Intense Orchard Fruit is even more unique in that it's matured in 3 different types of American oak casks. (46%)
For a great price/quality ratio, you can definitely go to the 100 Proof series from Signatory Vintage. This is edition 24 in that series. It is an 8-year-old Miltonduff single malt whisky that matured in first-fill bourbon casks. It is bottled at 57.1%.
It is one of two single malt Scotch whiskies to carry the designation 'royal'. This is a 10-year-old Royal Brackla bottling from James Eadie, matured in bourbon casks. This malt offers notes like red apple, toffee, caramel, shortbread and cinnamon. (46%)
The single malt whisky from Speyside distillery Linkwood is well appreciated. That will certainly also apply to this nicely priced Small Batch bottling from James Eadie. The 11-yea- old whisky matured in re-charred bourbon casks. It is bottled at 46%.
Bottler James Eadie released this 12-year-old Mannochmore in their Small Batch series. The Speyside single malt whisky matured in two casks: a 1st-fill bourbon hogshead and a re-charred butt. After blending, the whisky was bottled at 46% ABV.
The title Traditional of this Ben Nevis bottling refers to the times when single malt whisky was only distilled from peated barley malt. Hence, the Peated Malt on the label. You could, therefore, call this smoky and peaty whisky a classic Ben Nevis. (46%)
The Bladnoch 13 is the successor to the popular Bladnoch 11 single malt whisky and matured like the 11 in bourbon casks. Incidentally, this Bladnoch 13 Heritage Collection edition contains distillate of at least 15 years old due to circumstances! (46.7%)
This Glenlossie single malt whisky matured for 12 years in a first decharred and then re-charred bourbon cask. The Speysider was released in The Ultimate-Cask Strength series by Dutch bottler Van Wees at a strength of 57.3%. For a great price!
This 11-year-old Arran Small Batch bottling was finished in specially selected Australian Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks. The single malt whisky from the Isle of Arran was bottled especially for the Dutch market in a limited edition. (55.7% cask strength)
When this Seagram's V.O. Canadian Whisky was bottled for the Dutch market, we do not know. Back then, by purchasing this 6-year-old blended Canadian whisky in a 350 ml bottle, you had a chance to win a belt, but those times are over. (40%)
In the APEX series, Tel Aviv's M&H Distillery releases this 3-year-old single malt whisky, aged in casks that previously held fortified red wine. The whisky is distilled from peated barley malt. An earthy dram with hints of peat smoke and tobacco. (55.3%)
Under the Baker's label, Jim Beam distils a bourbon that is fermented with a different yeast than usual and comes out of the still at a lower alcohol percentage, which gives it an extra mild character. This 7-year-old Baker's is bottled at 53.5%.
This is a bottle from batch #3 of Benromach 2014 single malt whisky in the Cask Strength series. The malt aged for about 10 years in sherry and bourbon casks. A full-bodied dram with notes like stewed fruit, marmalade, a hint of smoke and aniseed. (60.6%)
Jasmine tea, orange blossom, almond, dark chocolate, fudge, honey and a hint of cinnamon. You can find all these notes and more in this Cley single malt whisky. The 5-year-old Rotterdam malt is finished for 1.5 years in an ex-moscatel quarter cask. (50%)
About 10 years ago, Isle of Harris Distillers opened its doors on the Scottish island of the same name. Under the brand The Hearach, they now have released about 25 bottlings, including this one. The single malt whisky aged in a 1st-fill Oloroso cask. 46%
Blended Scotch is the most sold whisky. Usually, these are the easy drams that you drink with ice or in a cola. But sometimes a blend deserves extra attention, like this Seven Stars: 60% malt, at least 1 year Oloroso finish. Old-fashioned good! (46%)
