BenRiach has released a new core bottling: The Original Ten. This 10-year-old single malt whisky aged in 3 different casks, which mainly yields fruity notes (apple, pear, nectarine), but also vanilla, honey, sweet malt and a hint of smoke. Bottled at 43%.
A new batch of the Cley Malt & Rye Whisky 58%. The malt-rye combination provides an extra flavorful dram, firm in the mouth and oily. Made by the distillery in Rotterdam according to an age-old recipe, this produces a whisky with its own character.
This single malt whisky was hand-bottled by its first owner in 2019 at the Bowmore distillery itself. Bowmore and sherry is always a good combination, and this Bowmore has matured in a sherry cask for 24 years. A fine dram at 48.8% cask strength.
With this Writer's Tears Double Oak that is produced by the Irish Midleton Distillery you get a dram that is a blend of pot still and single malt whisky. This not so common blend matured in both American and French oak casks and is bottled at 46%.
Penderyn, ever heard of it? This box is an introduction to this single malt whisky distillery that opened in Wales in 2004. Three single malts of which one finished in Madeira casks, one in red wine and the third is 'cask-peated'. 3 x 20 CL at 43%.
This rum-finished Smokehead isn't all about peat and smoke. The Islay single malt whisky bottled by Ian Macleod has depth and is complex. The rum finish provides fruity and vibrant notes. All in all a very drinkable and original combination. At 46%.
'Belgian roots… but Gaelic at heart', is how bottler Brachadair sees itself. And this is a bottling of a single malt whisky from the definitely Gaelic and innovative BenRiach Distillery. The malt is 6 years old and is finished on a small sherry cask. 58.2
Big Peat can now be called, in all its variations, a classic blended malt whisky. And this The Orange Edition, Batch 99, is clearly another. Do you like smoky Islay whiskies (Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg and Port Ellen!). then you cannot leave this one! (50%
With this 15-year-old Redbreast, the Irish Midleton distillery sets a good example of a pot-still whiskey. The whiskey is made from malted and un-malted barley, and after triple distillation matured in bourbon and sherry casks. At 46%.
Sazerac is a brand of rye whiskey from the Buffalo Trace Distillery (and it is the name of the family business that owns that distillery). This rye-based whisky is not complex, has its own character and body, and is pleasantly drinkable. (45%)
This bottling of the High West Distillery, America's Distillery of the Year in 2016, contains a blend of straight rye whiskeys. Earlier batches of this Double Rye! were well appreciated. For straight rye at least 51% of the used grains must be rye. (46%.)
Established in the last century as a supplier to the blended whisky industry, Speyside distillery Tamnavulin has already released quite a few single malt whisky bottlings. In early 2020, Tamnavulin released another batch in their Sherry Cask Edition. 40%
Aged in bourbon and sherry casks, this 15-year-old Benromach has a beautifully balanced palette of sherry flavors with vanilla, orange and ginger, with subtle chamomile and menthol notes in between. Bottled at 43%. With newly designed label.
Specially bottled for the Feis Isle festival 2020. That was canceled. This Big Peat again is a blend of Islay single malt whiskies: Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg and, yes, Port Ellen. For those who like it smoky! It is 8 years old and bottled at 46%.
A special bottling from Highland distillery Deanston. The special thing is the finish: the single malt whisky has matured for a while in casks in which red burgundy previously matured. That gives this 10-year-old malt extra fruity notes. At 46.3% ABV.
The peated standard bottling of the Tobermory distillery. If you like peated and want something different than the well-known Islay whiskies, try this Ledaig 10 that matured in bourbon cask. You will smell a farmyard. And smoke of course! At 46.3%.
This Aberlour single malt whisky is bottled especially for the French market. But you'll find it on our shelves now too. The 10-year-old Speysider matured in French oak and is finished in bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled for a nice price at 40%.
Auchentoshan is one of the few Scottish distilleries that uses triple distillation. This produces a light, floral-fruity whisky. As is the case with this 12-year-old standard bottling at 40%. A beautiful, ripe Lowland malt. A good entry-level whisky!
A bottling from the Irish Midleton Distillery. A 12 year old single pot still whiskey, so made from malted and unmalted barley, and triple distilled. This Redbreast matured in bourbon and sherry casks. A fine Irish whiskey for a nice price. At 40%.
For the wine connoisseurs among you: this Irish single pot still whiskey has been finished in casks where first Château Montelena Zinfandel wine matured in. Before the finishing, this triple distilled Green Spot matured in bourbon and sherry casks. (46%)
You can consider the Arran 10 years old as a standard bottling of the Arran Distillery. Nicely drinkable, light and uncomplicated, this is a single malt whisky for everyday or for an evening with friends. A nice introduction to the brand too.
This single malt whisky is a kind of scoop. It is the 1st whisky under that name by the Belgian distillery Filliers, in a limited edition. This single malt is 10 years old and aged in classic sherry casks made of European oak. Bottled at 43%.
Big Peat at its best, this Black Edition. The smoky Islay single malt whiskies in this blended malt are at least 27 years old, making the smoke more subtle and giving more room to the other aromas and flavors. A bottle to make friends with. At 48,3%.
