The whiskies in Ardnamurchan's Heritage Barley series are distilled from barley varieties that are lower in alcohol but more tasty than the currently popular varieties. This single malt is distilled from Golden Promise, which yields an oily texture. 59.2%
This Longmorn spent 19 years in the cask, a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, from where it came at a remarkably robust strength of 62.6%. This Speyside single malt whisky was bottled by Signatory Vintage as Symington's Choice. A beautifully sherried dram.
Torabhaig on the Isle of Skye is one of Scotland's youngest distilleries. With this bottling, Thompson Bros. showcases the quality of their peated single malt whisky. The malt matured for 7 years in select 1st-fill bourbon casks and is bottled at 57.1%.
Whisky distillers and bottlers Phil and Simon Thompson also blend whisky. See this Teaspooned Private Stock. Although, blending... It's supposedly an 8-year-old, bourbon-matured Ballindalloch single malt with a teaspoon of other malt mixed in. (57.1%)
Bottled in 2024 by Thompson Bros., this 10-year-old Tullibardine single malt whisky matured entirely in red wine casks. Ten years is long enough to soften the red wine tannins and bring the wine influence into balance with the whisky. (48.5% ABV)
This 13-year-old, Oloroso-matured blended malt from Thompson Bros. contains single malt whisky from the Ailsa Bay distillery, a whisky you don't often encounter. We don't know which other malt or malts are in this blend, or how much. (55.3% cask strength)
Thompson Bros. bottled this Allt-á-Bhainne in 2024 after it had matured for 28 years, the last four of which were spent in a select Oloroso cask. A complex single malt with notes of dates, tobacco, grapefruit, demerara sugar, and rye bread. (49.1% ABV)
In anticipation of the winter season, we present this Big Peat Winter Edition, a blended malt, finished in warming Madeira casks. Douglas Laing's Big Peat bottlings are always blends of peated Islay single malt whiskies. So, yes, 'Big Peat'. (53.6%)
The beautiful label of this The Cauldrons bottling from Douglas Laing symbolises the solar eclipse. This is a blend of Campbeltown single malt whiskies, finished in orange wine casks (wine from white grapes that matured with their skins). (52.9% ABV)
Over ten years ago, Yamazaki, Japan's oldest whisky distillery, released this Distiller's Reserve. The rich, sweet single malt whisky matured in Bordeaux French oak casks, American oak casks, and Japanese oak sherry casks. (NAS, 43% ABV)
The name suggests otherwise, but Wilson & Morgan is an Italian bottler. In 2004, they bottled this 10-year-old Bruichladdich single malt whisky at an Extra Strength of 50% ABV. The unpeated Islay malt matured in a bourbon cask from 1993 onwards.
Of the more than a quarter of a million whiskies registered in the Whiskybase, this is number 528, bottled in 2006. It's an 8-year-old Hazelburn, a triple-distilled single malt from the renowned Springbank Distillery. A collector's item! (46% ABV)
Cadenhead, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, presents a Burnside (a blend of The Balvenie single malt whisky and a teaspoon of Glenfiddich) that matured for a whopping 28 years in bourbon casks. Expect notes of tutti-frutti and toffee. (46% ABV)
When you talk about bourbon, the name Four Roses quickly comes to mind. And when you talk about quality bourbon, you might well be talking about bottles like this one: a rich blend of bourbon whiskeys aged at least 12 years, bottled at 54.55% ABV. Max 1p
This Sound of Sleat is the fourth chapter in the Legacy Series from the young Skye-based Torabhaig Distillery. This single malt whisky matured in first-fill and refill bourbon casks, as well as new American virgin oak casks. A smoky dram at 60.2% ABV!
Whisky company Seven Seals has several subsidiaries worldwide. Dunrobin Distilleries produced this rye whisky for its Canadian subsidiary. This Beaver's Dram is finished in port casks and bottled at 46% ABV. The rye is remarkably sweet.
That this Highland Park, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, aged for 20 years in a first-fill sherry cask, is clear: notes of blackberry, sultanas, blueberry, cinnamon, and stewed fruit are characteristic of this single malt, along with a hint of smoke. 59.7%
The Breton Distillerie Warenghem has been distilling single malt whisky for about 25 years. The entire process, from barley malt to bottling, takes place at the distillery itself. Like with this 15-year-old, bourbon- and sherry-matured Armorik. (46%)
This is the third edition in Glen Scotia's Icons of Campbeltown series, a series inspired by mythical creatures such as the kindhearted wolfman Wulver. This 12-year-old, powerful, warm, yet smooth single malt whisky is finished in port casks. (51.7% ABV)
Rotterdam's Cley Distillery distils its whisky according to traditional Dutch traditions. This 5-year-old Dutch Single Malt Whisky Manzanilla is no exception. It matured for 3 years in 1st-fill bourbon casks and then in small Manzanilla sherry casks. 48%
Whisky finished in Canasta casks isn't often found, so this Cley Dutch Single Malt is a great opportunity to experience what it's like. This 5-year-old malt is full-bodied, rich, and complex with notes like red fruit, leather, tobacco, and peach. (48%)
Inchfad is the name of a peated single malt whisky from the Loch Lomond Distillery. Bottler North Star released this Inchfad in their Cask Series, matured for 18 years in a carefully selected Oloroso cask. A full-bodied, peaty and elegant dram. (51.1%)
This North Star Spirits bottling, a blended malt, takes you on a journey along Campbeltown distilleries like Springbank, Glen Scotia, and others. The Campbeltown Connection matured for 10 years in hogsheads and is bottled at 50.7% ABV.
Sometimes there are bottlings that are unjustly overlooked. This is one of them. This 12-year-old Macallan was bottled in 2010, but it didn't make it into the Whiskybase until 2022. This is your chance! (1000 ml, matured in select sherry casks, 40% ABV)
