You don't see a blended grain whisky very often. And especially not one like this one from Compass Box. The 20- to 30-year-old grains Strathclyde, Cameronbridge, and Port Dundas combine to create a creamy, complex, smooth and pleasant-to-drink blend. 46%
With Cadenhead's Enigma series, you can guess which whisky it is; the bottler doesn't specify, only mentioning the region. Okay, so this Speysider spent the last two of its 12 years maturing in an Oloroso sherry cask and is bottled at 50%.
This 12-year-old Kilkerran single malt whisky is a standard bottling from the Glengyle Distillery. The whisky matured in bourbon and sherry casks. If you want an affordable whisky with maritime, fruity and sweet notes, then this is an option! (46% ABV)
Under the name Longrow Springbank Distillery releases a peated malt. Smoke, peat, and malt are clearly present, and also salt, citrus and, for example, grass. And there is the influence of the bourbon and sherry casks in which this batch matured. (46%)
For an excellent price, you can get all five Campbeltown single malt whiskies together in one bottle: Springbank, Hazelburn, Longrow, Glen Scotia and Kilkerran! The blend matured in bourbon and sherry casks, resulting in a mild, creamy and rich dram. 46%
Under the Mac-Talla banner, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers releases peated single malt whisky from unnamed distilleries on Islay. Here they come with a beautifully sherried whisky that matured in first-fill and refill PX casks. (52.8% ABV)
This is edition number 98 under The Whisky Blues label, a Teaninich single malt whisky. The distillery primarily produces for blended Scotch whiskies like Johnnie Walker. But this is a 16-year-old single malt that matured in an STR bourbon cask. (55.4%)
'Kittenish' is printed on the label of this bottling, undoubtedly a hint as to which Highland single malt it is (Clynelish, we'll reveal). The whisky matured for 25 years in an ex-Caol Ila cask, so expect a bit of peat smoke. Bottled at 52.8% ABV.
Behind the whimsical labels of The Whisky Blues bottlings lie some serious whiskies. Like this 23-year-old single malt from the Dailuaine distillery, built in the Speyside in 1852. It matured in a first-fill bourbon cask and was bottled at 57.0% ABV.
The Whisky Blues, a spin-off from the Taiwanese The Whisky AGE, always scores well on Whiskybase. This Deanston bottling will undoubtedly be no different. The 16-year-old Highland single malt whisky matured in a bourbon cask and was bottled at 56.3% ABV.
This is the third release in the Sinteis Series from Speyside distillery Glenallachie. The single malt whisky matured for 11 years in Oloroso sherry casks and, quite unusually, in French virgin oak casks, and is bottled at a robust 57.4% cask strength.
The innovative and sustainable GlenWyvis Distillery is the first in the world to be 100% member-owned. In 2025, they released The Drover in a limited edition of 3,000. This single malt whisky aged in Oloroso, Bourbon, Madeira, and Sauternes casks! (46.5%)
Small but mighty, you might say of this Glenfarclas bottling. This Speyside single malt is bottled in 20cl bottles, but it matured for 25 years in sherry casks. It's a typical, mature and balanced Glenfarclas, full-bodied on the palate. (43% ABV)
We don't know exactly when this Glenfarclas was bottled, but we do know that it matured for 21 years, probably in refill sherry casks, and was bottled in 20cl bottles, making it very affordable for a single malt of that age. (43%)
This Ardnamurchan was bottled in 2025 for a Dutch whisky enthusiasts' club in a limited edition of 334 bottles. This West Highland single malt whisky matured for 10 years in an ex-Oloroso Spanish oak cask. A beautifully sherried, oily dram. (58.6%)
This is a blended Irish whiskey, released as a single cask bottling by Glendalough. It is a blend of single malt and grain whiskey, both distilled in their own distillery. The blend matured in a bourbon cask and is finished in a Madeira cask. (42% ABV)
Founded in 2011, south of Dublin, Glendalough Distillery distils single malt and single grain whisky that matured in bourbon and is finished in sometimes very special wood. This is a blend of malt and grain, finished in a Calvados XO cask. (42% ABV)
The young distillery Hinch aims to be a craft innovator in the Irish whiskey world. In addition to grain, pot still, and blended whiskeys, they also produce single malt. This is one of them. The young malt matured in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. 43%
Bere barley is a 're-grown' primaeval barley, barley as it was at the time of the invention of single malt whisky. Barley with which Bruichladdich has made bottlings before. Complex, earthy, malty, dough, green fruit, oily ... a character all of its own.
The malt used to make this Bruichladdich single malt is made from barley grown on Islay itself, the island where the distillery is located. There's some confusion about the period (6 or 8 years), but the whisky matured in bourbon and wine casks. (50%)
In 2024, Islay distillery Kilchoman bottled this single cask edition for the Dutch WIN. The 5-year-old, peated single malt whisky was finished in a PX sherry cask and bottled at 54.9% cask strength. An accessible, well-balanced dram.
A 35-year-old Caol Ila! That's the subject of chapter 28 of Decadent Drinks' epic, Whiskyland. This Islay single malt was filled into a bourbon cask in 1990 and bottled in early 2026 at 44.5% ABV. A truly old-school dram, oily and full of flavour!
The Scottish Decadent Drinks released this Millstone single malt whisky, distilled at the Dutch Zuidam Distillery. The malt matured for 11 years in a PX sherry cask and was bottled in 2025 at a cask strength of 51.1% in a limited edition of 320 bottles.
The Bonnington Distillery in Edinburgh, which opened in 2020, expects to distil around 4,200 casks of whisky annually. These casks will then be used to produce bottlings like this Oloroso-aged single malt. Caramel, dried fruit, nutmeg, and sultanas. (47%)
