Longmorn is a highly regarded single malt whisky from the Speyside. In 2024, Signatory Vintage bottled a Longmorn from the same distillation batch as this 13-year-old edition, also matured in a first-fill bourbon cask, also at cask strength. (56.6%)
For a few years now, Signatory Vintage has been offering the 100 Proof series. This sherried Scotch whisky series excels due to its excellent price-quality ratio. A fine example is this Caol Ila single malt, matured in bourbon and Oloroso casks. (57.1%)
Under the Old Ezra brand, Lux Row Distillers in Kentucky distils whisky using traditional recipes. This is a 7-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, aged in a charred American oak cask, bottled for the Dutch market. (186 bottles, 58.5%)
At the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana, they distill whiskey according to various recipes for various brands. This 7-year-old Old Ezra is a prime example: a straight rye whiskey that matured in a charred American oak cask. (57.0% ABV)
Under the name Longrow Springbank Distillery releases a peated malt. Smoke, peat, and malt are clearly present, and also salt, citrus and, for example, grass. And there is the influence of the bourbon and sherry casks in which this batch matured. (46%)
In the late 19th century, Ardmore Distillery was established to supply single malt for the Teacher's Highland Cream blend. Today, some of the production is also marketed as a single malt whisky, such as this 14-year-old, sherry-matured SV edition. (57.1%)
Signatory Vintage's 100 Proof series offers good whiskies at a standard strength (51.7% = 100 proof) at a great price. This 11-year-old Blair Athol single malt is no exception. The Highlander matured in second-fill Oloroso sherry casks.
With this Platinum edition, bottled for the South African market, Glendronach Distillery honours its founder, James Allardice. The single malt whisky matured for 16 years in Oloroso sherry casks and was released in 2014 at 48% ABV in 750ml bottles.
If you enjoy sherried whisky, the Glendronach Distillery is a must. And this bottling has an added bonus: the 15-year-old sherried single malt whisky is finished in Tawny Port casks, which results in a smooth, beautifully balanced dram. (46% ABV)
Besides the sherry influences that permeate this Glendronach single malt, this whisky also bears the influence of the Marsala casks in which it was finished, all beautifully balanced. The Highlander matured for 18 years in European oak casks. (46% ABV)
For those who love sherried whisky, Glendronach is a must-try distillery. And for those curious about a sherried single malt with a little something extra, this bottling is a must! This 18-year-old sherried malt is finished in Tawny Port casks. (46% ABV)
This 12-year-old Kilkerran single malt whisky is a standard bottling from the Glengyle Distillery. The whisky matured in bourbon and sherry casks. If you want an affordable whisky with maritime, fruity and sweet notes, then this is an option! (46% ABV)
Campbeltown distillery Glengyle released the 13th batch in the Heavily Peated-Small Batch series of their Kilkerran single malt whisky. The peated dram matured in both bourbon and sherry casks. The hefty 58.6% alcohol is nicely integrated.
This 10-year-old Aberlour was finished for over a year in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask. Bottler James Eadie then bottled the single malt whisky in 362 bottles at a cask strength of 58.9% ABV. Coffee, dark chocolate, medjool dates, and more.
The Toki is a blend of whiskies from the Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries, all owned by Suntory. This blend primarily contains Hakushu single malt and grain from Chita. It's an easy-drinking dram, round and sweet with a touch of citrus. (43%)
Just like the year before, bottler Asta Morris released a 7-year-old Caol Ila single malt whisky in 2019, matured in a sherry cask. This edition, too, is a complex, creamy, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced sherried dram. (55.9%)
At the time, this 15-year-old bottling, celebrating Fèis Ìle 2019, was only available at Islay distillery Bowmore itself. The single malt whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks and is bottled at 51.7% ABV. Spicy oak, shortbread, and bergamot notes.
This is one of the bottlings in Bowmore's Vintner's Trilogy, a three-part series of single malts finished in wine casks. This 18-year-old edition first matured in bourbon casks and then spent five years in Manzanilla casks. A rich and complex dram. 52.5%
If you love old-school grain whisky, this is definitely the one for you! Living Souls bottled a 35-year-old grain whisky from Lowlands distillery Port Dundas, which closed in 2011. The whisky matured in bourbon casks. A full-bodied and sweet dram. (50.5%)
This Glen Garioch, a Highland single malt with a distinctive character, matured for 19 years in first-fill sherry casks before being bottled by Living Souls at 48% ABV. Expect notes of dried apricot, leather, plums, dark chocolate, and ginger. (48%)
A classic single malt whisky, this Bowmore, from the oldest distillery on the Isle of Islay. The whisky matured for 12 years in carefully selected bourbon and oloroso casks. So, essentially, a 'best of both worlds' whisky. And at a great price! (40%)
A classic single malt, that's undoubtedly the whisky from Islay distillery Ben Nevis. Cadenhead truly captures that spirit with this bottling. This Ben Nevis matured for a good 26 years in a bourbon cask and is bottled at cask strength (51.5% ABV).
This is a Chairman's Stock bottling from Cadenhead, Scotland's oldest independent bottler. For a very reasonable price, you get a 13-year-old Tomatin single malt whisky, matured in a bourbon barrel and bottled at 50.2% ABV in 204 bottles.
The whiskies in Ardnamurchan's Heritage Barley series are distilled from barley varieties that are lower in alcohol but more tasty than the currently popular varieties. This single malt is distilled from Golden Promise, which yields an oily texture. 59.2%
