Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.

Dream to Dram is the first official release of the new Lowlands distillery Kingsbarns. The Scottish Wymess family converted a historic farm into a distillery near the coast in Fife. This new release is made from local barley from East Five.
This 12-year-old Irish triple distilled single malt whiskey matured in a bourbon cask before it was finished in French oak casks. Casks that previously contained Château Pichon Baron wine, to be precise. An edition of 2100 bottles, filled at 46%.
With this 12-year-old single malt and for this price, Speyside distillery Knockandopresents a good entry-level whiskey. With the floral and fruity notes of the region and notes of vanilla, raisins and nuts, this is, at 43%, a pleasantly drinkable dram.
From the Richly Matured series, this 15-year-old Knockando aged in bourbon and sherry casks. A fairly complex malt with, besides the floral and fruity Speyside notes, sherry influences such as cinnamon, chocolate and apple sauce. Bottled at 43%.
Very reasonably priced for an 18 year old single malt whisky, this Knockando 18 in the Slow Matured series. This full-bodied and fruity Speysider matured in both bourbon casks and European oak sherry casks. Complex, balanced and pleasant to drink. At 43%.
You don't often come across the single malt whisky from the Speyside distillery Knockdhu as an independent bottling. But here's one from bottler Chapter 7. The malt is 16 years old and it matured in a bourbon cask that produced 334 bottles at 51.5%.
We've picked up some great Lagavulins: Special Release bottlings from the first decade of this century. These are 12 year old Lagavulin single malt whiskies bottled at cask strength. So this bottle is from 2008 and at 56.4% strength.
Lagavulin is a true Islay topper, and this Diageo Special Release shows why. This bottling emphasizes the milder, spicy and sweet side of the peated single malt whisky that matured for 12 years in bourbon casks for this edition. (57.4% cask strength)
Lagavulin 16 is an example of how a long distillation process and long maturing contribute to a high-quality single malt. With this bottling, Lagavulin sets a standard: a perfect balance between peat smoke, maritime tones and sherry aromas. At 43%.

The tenth Lagavulin bottling in Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2019. The 12-year-old single malt whisky matured in bourbon casks and is bottled at 57.4% cask strength. It has received a score of 87 points on Whiskybase so far.
The eleventh Lagavulin bottling in Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2021. The 14-year-old single malt whisky matured in bourbon casks and is bottled at 54.1% cask strength. It has received a score of 88 points on Whiskybase.
The twelfth Lagavulin bottling in Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2022. The single malt whisky was matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 55.4% cask strength. It has received a score of 88 points on Whiskybase so far.
