Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.
A good all-rounder, this Paul John Edited single malt whisky. Smoky notes combine well with notes of fruit and herbs, but vanilla, cocoa and cereals play a role too. This bottling is not very complex and is therefore pleasantly drinkable.
This Paul John single malt whisky matured on bourbon casks before it was bottled at cask strength (55.2%). A characterful dram in which fruity and meaty tones combine beautifully with, for example, coconut, malt and wood shavings. To relax and enjoy!

100% peated, as the Indian John Distilleries says about the Paul John Peated single malt whisky. With 55.5% alcohol, this is a solid dram. John Distilleries has won a whole series of international whisky awards with a Peated from this series.
This Peat & Bourbon Cask has been released as a Taiwan Exclusive bottling in the Elements of Islay series. It is a blend of Islay single malt-whiskies and It is bottled at a cask strength of 54.6%. There were only 397 bottles in this edition.
This Peat Cubed Root French Connection bottling was bottled exclusively for France. It is a blend of three Islay single malt whiskies, matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 57.4%. It scores 88 points on Whiskybase.
The age of the Penderyn Celt single malt whisky from Wales is unknown, but it is young. We do know that it finished on Islay quarter casks (Laphroaig?). That gives a touch of smoke to the taste and finish of this otherwise light dram.
Penderyn, ever heard of it? This box is an introduction to this single malt whisky distillery that opened in Wales in 2004. Three single malts of which one finished in Madeira casks, one in red wine and the third is 'cask-peated'. 3 x 20 CL at 43%.
This edition of Penderyn Sherrywood single malt whisky aged on bourbon and on the special dry oloroso sherry casks. This combination of casks results in a beautifully balanced alternation of the fruity Penderyn notes with the sweet sherry notes. 46%.
You will never know for sure which Islay single malt whisky a Port Askaig is, but with this 8-year-old dram you can taste that it is an Islay-peated whisky immediately. Despite its youth, it is quite complex, but very pleasant to drink. Bottled at 45.8%.
Port Charlotte has established itself this century among the big names in smoky Islay whiskies. It is one of two heavily peated single malt whiskies from the Bruichladdich distillery. And this is the 10-year-old standard PC, the 2020 release. (50%)
This is one of the very first Port Charlotte whiskies, the peated single malt from the Bruichladdich Distillery! Young, at 3 years old, and strong (62.7%), it was released in a private bottling in an edition of only 32 bottles. A piece of whisky history!
More and more distilleries are making single malt whisky from barley from the region. Bruichladdich does this already for years for special bottlings, and now again for this Port Charlotte. The barley for this peated malt comes from home base Islay. (50%)
The first Port Charlotte bottling in Speciality Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2012. The single malt whisky matured in a first-fill sherry hogshead, is bottled at 60.0% cask strength and awarded a Whiskybase score of 89.8 points.
The second Port Charlotte bottling in Speciality Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2013. The single malt whisky matured in a rum barrel and is bottled at 63.4% (!) cask strength. It received a score of 90.4 points on Whiskybase.

The sixth Port Charlotte bottling in Elixir Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2019. The 7-year-old single malt whisky matured in bourbon casks and is bottled at 55.3% cask strength. It received a score of over 87 points on Whiskybase
The Port Ellen single malt certainly belongs in the list of legendary whiskies. And furthermore, this is an exceptional bottling of this Islay legend: vintage 1982 and bottled in 2005 as a 22-year-old, heavily sherried dram at a cask strength of 61.7%!
