Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.
For a great price/quality ratio, you can definitely go to the 100 Proof series from Signatory Vintage. This is edition 24 in that series. It is an 8-year-old Miltonduff single malt whisky that matured in first-fill bourbon casks. It is bottled at 57.1%.
This 10-year-old Miyagikyo single malt whisky was released in 2009, bottled for La Maison du Whisky. A fine example of Japanese whisky, with its floral and fruity notes, soft smoothness, and perfect balance. A very pleasantly drinkable dram! 45% ABV
About twenty years ago, Miyagikyo distillery, which produces the least peated whisky of the Japanese Nikka group, released this 15-year-old, sherry-cask-matured single malt. A subtle, elegant, and complex dram. It is filled at 45% ABV.

Not very complex, but a broad and elegant taste palette. Some call this single malt whisky from the Japanese Miyagikyo distillery a 'summer whisky'. Subtle notes of fruit, sherry, wood and grain and a hint of smoke: a pleasantly drinkable dram.
This is one of those whiskies that makes you happy. This Mortlach single malt whisky was bottled in 2015 by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society at 52.2% cask strength after 27 years of maturation in a bourbon cask. Complex, yet very drinkable and gratifying.
Mortlach distils their spirit not two or three times, but 2.81 times, which gives the single malt whisky a profile of its own. Gordon & MacPhail is known as a very good bottler. When added together, this guarantees a fine dram. 24 years old and at 46%.
Under the Chieftain label of bottler Ian Macleod, this Mortlach was released in 2017, bottled for the Taiwanese market. With its 20 years of maturation in a first-fill oloroso cask, it is a perfectly sherried single malt whisky. (57.7% ABV, score 89.8)

Oban is one of Scotland's oldest, still active distilleries. This 14-year-old standard malt shows the basic character of Oban well: juicy orange, malt, salty and a hint of smoke, oily in the mouth. And that for a reasonable price.
A not very complex, flexible young single malt whisky, this Oban Little Bay. He is reminiscent of Oban's 14-year standard bottling, but is sweeter and more malty. A great dram for everyday life, or for an evening with friends. Nothing wrong with it.
Another Traveller's Exclusive from Highland distillery Pulteney. This time, a 13-year-old edition, matured in bourbon and sherry casks. The single malt whisky is bottled at 43% in 1 liter bottles. A fine whisky for a great price!
The Old Pulteney 15 is a core bottling of this Highland distillery. And rightly so: it is a beautiful, characterful, yet mild single malt whisky that double-matured on American and Spanish oak. Nose, taste and finish follow each other harmoniously. (46%)
The Maritime Malt says the label of the single malt whisky from the Pulteney Distillery. You can indeed detect a hint of sea air in this 16-year-old Old Pulteney. It matured in American and Spanish oak casks, and you can taste that too. (46%)
This is a core bottling from Highland distillery Old Pulteney. This 18-year-old single malt whisky is clearly finished in quality sherry casks. Full of flavor, smooth and mild, with the sherry notes harmoniously in balance with the Old Pulteney character.
New make spirit from Highland distillery Pulteney matured for 20 years in one of bottler Gordon & MacPhail's own sherry casks, after which it was bottled as Old Pulteney single malt whisky in G&M's well-known Connoisseurs Choice series at 56.9% ABV.
The Pulteney Distillery in the Highlands releases many bottlings of their Old Pulteney single malt whisky; you don't see independent bottlings very often. But this is one: a 16-year-old malt matured in a bourbon barrel, bottled at 55.3% cask strength.
In 696 of these distinctive bottles, this Old Pulteney was released as a single-cask bottling. The single malt whisky from the two-century-old Highland distillery Pulteney matured from 2012 to 2025 in an Oloroso cask and is bottled at 54.5% cask strength.
In 2024, the first bourbon-aged single malt whisky was released from the young Japanese Ontake Distillery, located at the foot of Mount Ontake. The whisky is distilled in specially designed stills, resulting in a perfectly balanced spirit. (43% ABV)
This is indeed the 1st edition of the Ontake Distillery in Japan, which started in 2019. Quality comes first at this distillery: the single malt whisky is distilled with home-grown yeast from a select barley variety and matured in Solera sherry casks. 43%
In 2019, the Japanese Ontake distillery distilled its first spirit. This included the spirit that, after maturing in first-fill sherry casks, was bottled as the Second Edition in 2025. A young, yet rich and warm dram with robust fruit notes. (43% ABV)
We're not revealing any secrets when we say that this Orkney (HP) bottling from Signatory Vintage is Highland Park single malt whisky. It matured for 19 years in a 1st-fill Oloroso cask and was bottled at 54.4%. A beautifully balanced and complex dram.
