Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. A new look for this 12 year old Loch Lomond single malt whisky. It matured in 3 different types of bourbon cask (1st fill, refill and re-charred). That resulted in a dram with notes of peach, pear, sweet vanilla and a hint of peat smoke. 46%

Lochindaal is a single malt whisky from Bruichladdich that falls in terms of smokiness somewhere between Port Charlotte and Octomore, both also from that Islay distillery. This Lochindaal matured for 18 years in a bourbon cask and is bottled at 58.0% ABV.
The first Lochindaal bottling in Speciality Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2016. The single malt whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks, is bottled at 62.5% cask strength and awarded a Whiskybase score of a good 88 points.

The young Lowland distillery Lochlea is a family business that makes whisky from barley from their own farm. After their First Release and Sowing Edition, there is now the Our Barley. The single malt whisky matured in bourbon, sherry and 'STR' casks. 46%
This is the third release in the Ploughing Edition from Lowlands distillery Lochlea. The single malt whisky matured in casks previously used to mature Islay whisky. This gives the whisky a delicate smoky note, alongside fruity and floral notes. (46% ABV)

Almost forgotten again: the Longrow 100 Proof bottlings from Campbeltown distillery Springbank. But here's one to refresh your memory. This 10-year-old peated single malt is, of course, bottled at 100 proof, so at 57.1% ABV.

The Enigma bottlings from Cadenhead, as the name suggests, do not mention the distillery. With this edition, we have to make do with the knowledge that it is an 11-year-old, oloroso-matured Lowland single malt whisky at 57.5% ABV. For a nice price!

For those looking for a classic, old school sherried whisky, this is a bottle to think about. It is a Macallan single malt whisky that came out quite a while ago already, after having matured for 12 years in carefully selected sherry casks. (40%).
Sometimes there are bottlings that are unjustly overlooked. This is one of them. This 12-year-old Macallan was bottled in 2010, but it didn't make it into the Whiskybase until 2022. This is your chance! (1000 ml, matured in select sherry casks, 40% ABV)
When you say Macallan, you say sherried whiskey. The distillery, which opened in Speyside in 1824, still mainly produces single malt whisky matured in sherry casks. Take this 12 year old edition: buttery, sweet, dark red fruit, tobacco...a pleasant dram.
Speyside Distillery Macallan is best known for its sherried single malt whisky. A fine example is this 18-year-old release in the Double Cask series from 2020, which matured in sherry casks of both European and American oak. (43% ABV)
