Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.
This Caol Ila bottling from Signatory Vintage is nicely priced because it was released in the Small Batch series. The peated single malt whisky aged for 10 years in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 48.2%, the standard for this series.

The twelfth Caol Ila bottling in the Elements of Islay series was released in 2019. The 7-year-old single malt whisky matured in two refill sherry casks and is bottled at 57,5% cask strength. It received a score of a good 86 points on Whiskybase so far.
The third Caol Ila bottling in Speciality Drinks' Elements of Islay series, released in 2011. The bourbon-matured single malt whisky is bottled at 50.1% cask strength and has received a score of almost 88 points so far on Whiskybase.
The fourth Caol Ila bottling in Speciality Drinks' Elements of Islay series was released in 2012. The 12-year-old single malt whisky matured in bourbon casks and was bottled at a cask strength of 58.7%.
The eighth Caol Ila bottling in Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2017. The single malt whisky was matured in five bourbon casks and bottled at 55.2% cask strength. It has received a score of about 86 points on Whiskybase so far.
In 2002, the Speyside distillery Caperdonich closed; this Cadenhead's bottling dates from long before that. Sometime in the 1980s, this 17-year-old Speyside single malt appeared on the Italian market in a 75cl Dumpy Bottle. (bottled at 45.7% ABV)
The Bottlers, a very high-scoring bottler, hardly release any bottlings anymore (the last one in 2015, as far as we know), but in 2004, they released this 27-year-old single malt whisky from the Caperdonich Distillery that closed in 2002. (54.3%)
Cardhu was one of the first distilleries to launch its own single malt bottlings in the 1960s. The single malt whisky has since been released in several Diageo Special Releases. The 2021 edition is 14 years old and is finished in red wine casks. (55.5%)
This is a standard bottling from Speyside distillery Cardhu. This single malt whisky has matured for 18 years in bourbon and sherry casks and is bottled at 40% ABV. That makes this a typical, fruity and round Speysider, a pleasantly drinkable dram.
You can find distillery bottlings of Cardhu single malt whisky in most liquor stores, but bottlings like this... This is a real collector's item: the Speysider was vatted in 1973. After 27 years of maturation, it was bottled at a cask strength of 60.2%.

This Cley single malt was triple distilled in a copper pot still. It matured in a virgin oak cask for 3 years, and was finished for 1.5 years in a cask, formerly used for maturing Glen Scotia single malt. Intense notes of pear, banana and marzipan. (53%)
The first peated single malt whisky from the Cley Distillery, this Secret Islay edition. A more than 4 year old single malt that was finished for a year and a half in an Islay cask (a Kilchoman cask, according to a reliable source). 3x distilled. (55%)
This Cley single malt whisky matured for 3 years in a bourbon cask and 1.5 years in a Palo Cortado octave. Palo Cortado is a fairly rare sherry with the fullness of Oloroso and the freshness of Amontillado. You can really taste that in this dram. (52%)
After maturing in a bourbon cask, this 5-year-old single malt whisky from the Dutch Cley Distillery was finished for 2 years in a cask that previously contained a peated malt from the Isle of Mull, resulting in a smoky dram with tropical fruit notes. 53%
