Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.
The name suggests otherwise, but Wilson & Morgan is an Italian bottler. In 2004, they bottled this 10-year-old Bruichladdich single malt whisky at an Extra Strength of 50% ABV. The unpeated Islay malt matured in a bourbon cask from 1993 onwards.
In 2015, the Scottish Rest & be Thankful Whisky Company released this 10-year-old Bruichladdich single malt whisky. The Islay malt matured in a Cadiz wine cask and was bottled at cask strength. And with 65.2%, 'strength' is the right word here!
The Bruichladdich Valinch single malt whiskies are only available at the distillery itself. The buyer bottles his bottle directly from the cask. This Laddie Crew 24 single malt was bottled in 2015 after 9 years of maturation in a Rivesaltes cask. (44.9%)
Previous editions of this single malt whisky have been described as incredibly intense, complex, ripe and full. And this edition, the Black Art 11.1, is no less than 24 years old. In that time, this special malt matured in various cask types. (44.2%)
The fourth Bruichladdich bottling in Speciality Drinks’ Elements of Islay series was released in 2012. The single malt whisky was matured in 4 bourbon casks and bottled at 54.7% cask strength. It received a score of almost 86 points on Whiskybase so far.
The Classic Laddie, a single malt whisky bottling from the quirky Islay distillery Bruichladdich, matured in four different casks such as bourbon, and French red wine. The spirit is distilled from Scottish barley. The whisky is bottled at 50%.
A nice sherried single malt. Solid with layers of complexity. The influence of the sherry cask isn't overpowering the whisky at all, leaving enough space for the delicate dried fruits and warming spices to come through. Pleasantly quaffable!
A limited edition bottling, that's the 2021 edition of this Bunnahabhain single malt whisky. It is 12 years old and matured in both sherry and bourbon casks. This resulted in a complex palette of dried fruit, vanilla, roasted nuts and maritime notes.
Sherried, nutty, unpeated, says the label of this Bunnahabhain bottling. The single malt whisky was released as Small Batch Distilled, Cask Strength Edition 2025. The Bunna matured for 12 years in Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled at 56,4% ABV.

For the Dutch The Specialists' Choice, The Whisky Agency bottled this Bunnahabhain single malt whisky in 2011. The 'Bunna' matured for 10 years in a sherry cask. It is a pleasantly drinkable, pleasantly sherried dram. (Bottled at 46% in 414 bottles)
If you like sherried single malt whisky, this bottling by bottler Van Wees is worth considering. It is an 11 year old Bunnahabhain that matured on a 1st fill sherry cask. The special feature of this bottling is the very high alcohol percentage of 68,9!
Has the distillery profile of this Bunnahabhain single malt whisky been preserved after 9 years aging in a sherry cask? Knowing bottler Valinch & Mallet, it almost have to. Combined with the sweetness and notes of stewed fruit from the sherry cask. 52.8%
You see them more and more, bottlings of Staiosha, the peated version of Bunnahabhain single malt whisky. That says something about its popularity. A special bottling is this 6-year-old from Brachadair: 64 bottles came from a small sherry cask at 62.1%.

More and more whisky lovers are getting a taste for the Staoisha single malt whisky, the peated Bunnahabhain version. For them, this Le Gus't bottling is a great option. The Staoisha matured for 11 years on a first-fill bourbon cask. (56.0% cask strength)
The Bunnahabhain Distillery on whisky island Islay mainly produces non-peated single malt whisky, but they make also smoky drams. Take the Toiteach a Dhà (Gaelic for 'Smoky Two'), for example: matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46.3%.
Cadenhead, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, presents a Burnside (a blend of The Balvenie single malt whisky and a teaspoon of Glenfiddich) that matured for a whopping 28 years in bourbon casks. Expect notes of tutti-frutti and toffee. (46% ABV)

Rare Irish Whiskey is the name of the series in which this Bushmill's single malt whiskey was released. This Irish single malt matured in bourbon, port and oloroso sherry casks for a total of 16 years before being bottled at 40% strength in 2021.
In a limited edition, the Irish Bushmills Distillery released this single malt whisky in 2020 in The Causeway Selection series. The triple distilled malt is finished in French Banyuls wine casks and bottled at a cask strength of 53,2%.
In 1828, Cameronbridge was the first distillery to make grain whisky, so they now have two centuries of experience! You can taste that in this 100 Proof-bottling from Signatory Vintage. The single grain matured for 12 years in a bourbon cask. (57.1%)
A nice example of the distillery character, this 12-year-old Caol Ila. Tough and yet subtle, and nicely balanced with the smoke and peat notes typical of Caol Ila. A good and affordable entry into the world of 'peated' Islay whisky.
