Strength

A distillery bottling is a bottling by the whisky distillery itself. We also call this 'original brand' bottling or OB. Until the 1970s, there were only 12 distillers in Scotland who released original brands. The whisky from the other distillers that did not disappear into the blends was bottled by independent bottlers.
Almost all distillers now have their own bottlings. This can be standard bottlings that always come in standard quality, or special bottlings in a limited edition. Sometimes even single-cask releases are involved.
But in addition to the OB's, there still appear independent bottlings (IB) from all distilleries.

Glen Scotia Double Cask Rum Cask Finish

With this ageless bottling, the Glen Scotia Distillery sets an example of a good balance between bourbon and rum influences from the casks in which this single malt whisky matured successively. A nice and affordable introduction to Glen Scotia! (46%)

Glen Garioch 12-year-old

A nice, robust standard whisky from this Highland distillery. Matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 48%. And that at a very acceptable price. That you pronounce Glen Garioch as Glen Geeree does not matter then.

Yoichi Single Malt

This ageless single malt whisky from the Japanese Yoichi distillery is a pleasantly drinkable and surprisingly full dram. Lots of fruit, green tea, milk chocolate to name a few, with a hint of salty smoke. Why not try a Japanese whisky like this?

Ben Nevis Traditional

The title Traditional of this Ben Nevis bottling refers to the times when single malt whisky was only distilled from peated barley malt. Hence, the Peated Malt on the label. You could, therefore, call this smoky and peaty whisky a classic Ben Nevis. (46%)

Rossville Union 07-year-old

The Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, produces rye whisky in addition to bourbon. This Rossville Union is an excellent example of that. Traditionally produced, it aged for 7 years in charred American oak casks, and bottled at 58.5%.

Ballechin 18-year-old - Cask Strength Edition

At 18 years old, the sharp edges are gone, but this Ballechin single malt whisky still has the smokiness characteristic of this brand. This is the first batch of an 18-year-old malt in the new Cask Strength series, bourbon matured, bottled at 50.9%.

Knappogue Castle 12-year-old - Château Pichon Baron French Oak
