A distillery bottling is a bottling by the whisky distillery itself. We also call this 'original brand' bottling or OB. Until the 1970s, there were only 12 distillers in Scotland who released original brands. The whisky from the other distillers that did not disappear into the blends was bottled by independent bottlers.
Almost all distillers now have their own bottlings. This can be standard bottlings that always come in standard quality, or special bottlings in a limited edition. Sometimes even single-cask releases are involved.
But in addition to the OB's, there still appear independent bottlings (IB) from all distilleries.
Specially for sale at airports, this Dark Storm is from the Talisker distillery on the Scottish island of Skye. A standard bottling in a liter bottle. For a long time Talisker was the only distillery on the island, recently there is a second one. Hence.
This is an excellent whisky for after a festive dinner. The 16-year-old Glenmorangie single malt matured in bourbon casks and is finished in an exquisite selection of sweet wine casks (like Sauternes, Moscatel and Tokajer), and you can taste that! (46%)
The Bunnahabhain Distillery on whisky island Islay mainly produces non-peated single malt whisky, but they make also smoky drams. Take the Toiteach a Dhà (Gaelic for 'Smoky Two'), for example: matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46.3%.
In 2007, beverage producer Diageo came up with this very Special Release: a 30-year-old single malt whisky from the legendary Brora brand (the distillery closed in 1983). 2958 bottles at cask strength (55.7%), matured in sherry and bourbon casks.
With a new label design, this is a bottling in the Our Bourbon Barrel Reserve series from Glenfiddich, the world's most famous single malt whisky distillery. In addition to maturing in bourbon barrels, this favorably priced malt is finished on new oak.

This is one of the first bottlings from the Nc'Nean Distillery in the Western Highlands. Batch 3 of the Organic Single Malt whisky, in a beautifully decorated bottle. The young malt offers a rich palette of flavors with maritime notes in the background.
The Corryvreckan? Isn't that a standard single malt whisky from the Ardbeg Distillery? Yes, but this Corryvreckan is certainly not standard. It is a limited edition bottling for the 'members' of Ardbeg. Very Peaty, deep and gutsy. Bottled at 57.1%.
This is one of the first editions from the young craft distillery Bossche Stokers from the Dutch town of Den Bosch: a Hemel & Hellevuur Dutch Single Malt Whisky. The whisky is distilled from several types of malt and aged in 3 different sherry casks. 48%
This is a bottle of batch #2 of Benromach 2014 single malt whisky in the Cask Strength series. The Speysider matured for 9 years in sherry and bourbon casks. A full dram with characteristic notes of stewed fruit, citrus and a hint of smoke (59.7%)
This Dutch single malt whisky first matured for 3 years in bourbon casks and was then finished for 1.5 years in small Oloroso casks from Montilla. You can taste notes like cinnamon, raisins, leather, marzipan, ginger, dried fruit and vanilla. (54%, 0.5L)
The Glenfarclas distillery bottled this Spring Edition 2001 especially for the Netherlands. The distillery has become known for its sherried whisky, and this edition also matured in sherry casks. Bottled at 55%. Also for sale for non-Dutch people.
This Autumn Edition of Glenfarclas has been specially selected and bottled for the Dutch market. This 17 year old single malt whisky is sherried, a hallmark that made the distillery world famous. Bottled at 53.5%.
The cask from which this bottling of an Edradour single malt whisky came was selected by songwriter Dougie Maclean. The bottling is named after his song Caledonia. Incidentally, it was an Oloroso sherry cask, on which the malt matured for 12 years. (46%)
In 1973, The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside began bottling their single malt whisky. And now, about fifty years later, the brand is in the top 10 of best-selling single malts. This Caribbean is a 14-year-old Balvenie finished on rum casks. At 43%.
'The King's own whisky', the label reads. And that king is William IV who gave the Brackla Distillery in the Highlands the right to bear the title Royal. This 12-year-old Royal Brackla single malt whisky is finished in oloroso sherry casks. At 46% ABV.
In its quest for flavour, the young Irish Waterford Distillery stumbled upon a then much-vaunted but now forgotten barley variety, the Hunter. This single malt whisky is made from that flavorful barley. Taste how whisky could taste in the old days! (50%)

The Victoriana bottlings from Campbeltown Distillery Glen Scotia are always at cask strength. The single malt whisky is finished in deep charred casks for an extra strong cask influence. This 2022 edition has a new label design. (54.2%)
The Original is the motto of this Monkey Shoulder Batch 27-edition. This blended malt whisky from William Grant & Sons is a smooth, pleasantly drinkable blend of Speyside single malts Balvenie, Kininvie and Glenfiddich. For a great price! Bottled at 40%.
Speyside distillery Tamdhu makes its single malt whisky to mature almost exclusively in sherry casks. This also applies to his 12-year-old standard bottling. For those who love sherried whisky: this is a pleasantly drinkable, nicely balanced dram.
This Glenallachie single malt is really a whisky for at the fireplace. It matured for 12 years in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, from which it was bottled at a solid 61%. A dram to enjoy while sipping. It was specially bottled for the Netherlands.
The Maritime Malt says the label of the single malt whisky from the Pulteney Distillery. You can indeed detect a hint of sea air in this 16-year-old Old Pulteney. It matured in American and Spanish oak casks, and you can taste that too. (46%)
