The Douglas Laing company started blending malt whisky in 1948. And since 1998, this Glasgow-based family business also releases single cask bottlings. With great success. Famous are their Old Malt Cask, Old Paricular, and Provenance series.
In addition, they still release blended malts. The popular Big Peat bottlings (Islay malts) and the Region Malts series. This under the motto: 'If a single malt is a violin, then a blended malt is an entire orchestra!'. All in all, Douglas Laing now has more than 5000 bottlings to his name.
Every Big Peat bottling is unique, and this 10-year-old Mizunara Cask Edition certainly is: it is finished in Japanese oak! It is one of the editions with which Douglas Laing celebrated its 75th anniversary. The blended Islay malt is bottled at 46%.
It was back in 2016 that Douglas Laing released this Big Peat The Diplomat's Edition, in a limited run of 660 bottles, at an ABV of 46%. And naturally, this blend of Islay single malts also offers rich notes of peat smoke, seaweed, sweetness, and ash.
During Big Peat's World Tour in 2018, the US was also visited with this New Hampshire Edition. In the blend of four peated Islay single malt whiskies, you will find notes like smoke and peat, but also notes of seaweed and iodine, bacon and caramel. (48%)

As a contribution to a joyful Easter celebration, this Scallywag Easter Edition No. 2, matured in bourbon and sherry casks, was released in 2018. Scallywag is the name of the blends of Speyside single malt whiskies from Douglas Laing. (444 bottles; 48%)
Belarus was also visited again on Big Peat's World Tour in 2022. The heavily peated blend of four Islay single malt whiskies was bottled in 600 bottles by bottler and blender Douglas Laing at an ABV of 48.0%.
As the name Taiwan Sanxiantai Exclusive suggests, this Big Peat edition was intended for the Taiwanese market in 2015. This edition of Douglas Laing's blend of four peated Islay single malts is perfectly balanced and therefore scores highly! (50.2%)

Switzerland was also visited a few times on Big Peat's World Tour, including in 2022 with The East-Swiss Edition. The peated blend of four Islay single malt whiskies was bottled for TheWhiskyshop.ch at an ABV of 53.3%.
During Big Peat's World Tour in 2022, a stop was also made in British Columbia, Canada. The heavily peated blend of the four Islay single malt whiskies Caol Ila, Bowmore, Ardbeg, and Port Ellen was bottled for this stop at 51.3% ABV, in 600 bottles.
The German town of Coburg was also visited during Big Peat's World Tour in 2022. The heavily peated blend of four Islay single malt whiskies was bottled for this stop at a cask strength of 51.3% in 600 bottles.
This Big Peat edition was specially bottled by Douglas Laing in 2019 for the French drinks retailer V&B. 600 bottles were filled with a blend of four peated Islay single malt whiskies, at an ABV of 46%.
