Previous editions of this single malt whisky have been described as incredibly intense, complex, ripe and full. And this edition, the Black Art 11.1, is no less than 24 years old. In that time, this special malt matured in various cask types. (44.2%)
With Buffalo Trace bourbon whiskey you're always right: reliable quality, available everywhere and you get what you can expect from a bourbon: notes of vanilla, honey and toffee; a bit more spicy in the taste. In short, you get value for money!
You can't go wrong with Buffalo Trace bourbon whiskey: reliable quality, available everywhere and you get what you can expect from a bourbon: notes of vanilla, honey and toffee; a bit spicier. With this liter bottle you get extra value for your money!
A nice introduction to bourbon whiskey, this standard bottle from Bulleit Distillery Co. A friendly price for a nice, not too complex bourbon. And then gives the extra rye in the recipe this bourbon whiskey also its own character.
The '95' on the label of this Bulleit rye whiskey stands for the percentage of rye in the mash. And that is a lot. If you want to know what a real rye whiskey tastes like, then this American Bulleit is a good example. And that for a reasonable price!
A nice sherried single malt. Solid with layers of complexity. The influence of the sherry cask isn't overpowering the whisky at all, leaving enough space for the delicate dried fruits and warming spices to come through. Pleasantly quaffable!
A limited edition bottling, that's the 2021 edition of this Bunnahabhain single malt whisky. It is 12 years old and matured in both sherry and bourbon casks. This resulted in a complex palette of dried fruit, vanilla, roasted nuts and maritime notes.
Sherried, nutty, unpeated, says the label of this Bunnahabhain bottling. The single malt whisky was released as Small Batch Distilled, Cask Strength Edition 2023. The Bunna matured for 12 years in sherry casks and was bottled at a hefty 60.1%.
The Bunnahabhain Distillery on whisky island Islay mainly produces non-peated single malt whisky, but they make also smoky drams. Take the Toiteach a Dhà (Gaelic for 'Smoky Two'), for example: matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 46.3%.
A nice entry-level whiskey, this 10-year-old Bushmills. A soft, fruity Irish single malt whiskey, with sherry notes in the background. At 40% and competitively priced, this is a whiskey to please many! Now with the newly designed label.
In 1608 the Irish Bushmills received its first distillery license. That year is also proudly printed at this bottling's label. Released for the Italian market, this Black Bush single malt whiskey matured in sherry casks. It is bottled at 40%.
For an excellent price, you can get all five Campbeltown single malt whiskies together in one bottle: Springbank, Hazelburn, Longrow, Glen Scotia and Kilkerran! The blend matured in bourbon and sherry casks, resulting in a mild, creamy and rich dram. 46%
A nice example of the distillery character, this 12-year-old Caol Ila. Tough and yet subtle, and nicely balanced with the smoke and peat notes typical of Caol Ila. A good and affordable entry into the world of 'peated' Islay whisky.
This Caol Ila bottling in the Discovery series by Gordon & MacPhail has aged for 13 years in clearly active bourbon casks. In this Islay single malt whisky you will find notes of vanilla, caramel, fruit and leather, and salty peat smoke and iodine.
In honor of Dutchman Han van Wees's 60th anniversary in the whisky trade (think of The Ultimate whisky bottlings), Gordon & MacPhail released this 14-year-old Caol Ila single malt whisky. The peated Islay malt matured in a first-fill sherry cask. (52.8%)
A lesser known but certainly interesting series from Gordon & MacPhail is Connoisseurs Choice - Wood Finished. The whisky in this series is finished in special casks. Like this 13-year-old Caol Ila that was finished in casks of an Italian top wine. (45%)
This Caol Ila bottling from Signatory Vintage is nicely priced because it was released in the Small Batch series. The peated single malt whisky aged for 10 years in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 48.2%, the standard for this series.
When the Caperdonich Distillery closed in 2002, it had never released bottlings of their single malt whisky. Remarkably enough, a few original brand bottlings appeared after the closure. Like this one: peated (!), aged for 18 years in bourbon casks, 48%.
Remarkable: it was only after it closed in 2002 that The Caperdonich Distillery released bottlings of its own single malt whisky. This is a 21 year old one in the Small Batch Release series. Also special: it is a peated version! Bottled in 2019 at 48%.
Cardhu was one of the first distilleries to launch its own single malt bottlings in the 1960s. The single malt whisky has since been released in several Diageo Special Releases. The 2021 edition is 14 years old and is finished in red wine casks. (55.5%)
This is a standard bottling from Speyside distillery Cardhu. This single malt whisky has matured for 18 years in bourbon and sherry casks and is bottled at 40% ABV. That makes this a typical, fruity and round Speysider, a pleasantly drinkable dram.
You can find distillery bottlings of Cardhu single malt whisky in most liquor stores, but bottlings like this... This is a real collector's item: the Speysider was vatted in 1973. After 27 years of maturation, it was bottled at a cask strength of 60.2%.
This must really be an old bottling! The label is quite weathered, but it still shows that this is a Clan Campbell Blended Scotch Whisky. Clan Campbell was a brand of Muir Mackenzie. The bottle is still well filled due to the screw cap. A unique bottle!
This Cley single malt was triple distilled in a copper pot still. It matured in a virgin oak cask for 3 years, and was finished for 1.5 years in a cask, formerly used for maturing Glen Scotia single malt. Intense notes of pear, banana and marzipan. (53%)
