The numbers of the 35 'traditional whisky casks' and of the 7 sherry butts on which this The Balvenie single malt whisky matured are noted on the label. This is a bottle of Tun 1509, Batch No.1, bottled in 2014, which scores very high on the Whiskybase.

The title Traditional of this Ben Nevis bottling refers to the times when single malt whisky was only distilled from peated barley malt. Hence, the Peated Malt on the label. You could, therefore, call this smoky and peaty whisky a classic Ben Nevis. (46%)

A new smoky single malt whisky from the BenRiach Distillery. This The Smoky Ten matured for 10 years (naturally) in three types of casks: bourbon, rum and new oak. In addition to smoke, this malt also contains notes of summer-ripe fruit, pear and honey.
BenRiach is not afraid to experiment. Their normal distilling process is in two runs, as with most other Scottish whiskymakers, but this edition is triple-distilled. This produces a lighter, milder single malt whisky. Matured in bourbon and sherry casks.
