James Eadie bottled 285 bottles of this Royal Brackla single malt whisky at a sturdy cask strength of 58.9%. The whisky from the Highland distillery, which is more than two centuries old, matured for 10 years in a scraped and then re-charred bourbon cask.
The Brackla distillery has been around for over two centuries and has been known as 'royal' for almost two centuries. Elixir Distillers bottled this 9-year-old, bourbon-matured Brackla single malt whisky in the Single Malts of Scotland series. (46%)
A bottling from a modest distillery with a royal warrant. The Royal Lochnager 12 is a good standard bottling, especially considering the favorable price. This single malt whisky easily drinks away. A whisky for every day.
The single malt whisky of Royal Lochnagar near Balmoral Castle was included in Diageo's Classic Malts series in 2005. So the whisky participates in the Diageo Special Releases that many are looking forward to. 16 years old and at 57.5% is this edition.
What can we say? Every year around this time, Van Wees comes with a Saint & Peat bottling of a peated Islay single malt whisky. They are always young single malts, so the price can be pleasantly limited. A Dutch festivity right before Christmas! (55%)
Not only that it comes from Switzerland makes this single malt whisky special, but also that it matured in beer casks. And that it has its own unique character, with many smoky notes such as bacon and campfire, meaty and sweet. Complex and easy to drink!
Sazerac is a brand of rye whiskey from the Buffalo Trace Distillery (and it is the name of the family business that owns that distillery). This rye-based whisky is not complex, has its own character and body, and is pleasantly drinkable. (45%)
The Glansa is the only peated single malt whisky from Orkney distillery Scapa. The notes of peat smoke come from the casks on which the Glansa aged. These are casks that previously contained heavily peated whisky. That makes the Glansa a mildly smoky dram
With the Skiren bottlings, Orkney distillery Scapa is releasing an 'ageless' single malt whisky that can serve as a business card. The whisky matured on bourbon casks which gives a surprisingly fruity and sweet and pleasantly drinkable dram. At 40%.
When this Seagram's V.O. Canadian Whisky was bottled for the Dutch market, we do not know. Back then, by purchasing this 6-year-old blended Canadian whisky in a 350 ml bottle, you had a chance to win a belt, but those times are over. (40%)
There are now a quarter of a million unique whiskies in the Whiskybase! To celebrate, we are releasing this very special 16-year-old, bourbon-matured single malt whisky from a Highland distillery we are not allowed to name. Thick, waxy and fruity! (59.3%)
Okay, from which of the 50 or so Speyside distilleries does this single malt whisky come? No idea. We do know that this malt aged for no less than 28 years in a bourbon cask, which means that the ABV percentage is almost at the critical limit: 40.1%!
It doesn't matter that the Speyside distillery has to remain a secret: the fact that the Thompson Brothers selected this single malt whisky gives us enough confidence. An excellent daily dram, matured for 11 years in 2 refill sherry casks. (48.5%)
Blended Scotch is the most sold whisky. Usually, these are the easy drams that you drink with ice or in a cola. But sometimes a blend deserves extra attention, like this Seven Stars: 60% malt, at least 1 year Oloroso finish. Old-fashioned good! (46%)
Rolf Kaspar specializes in bottlings of Irish whisky, among other things. The bottler achieved high marks with previous editions, and this single malt whisky will be no different. It matured for 21 years in an ex-rum cask. It was bottled at 53.6%
Edition no. 9 of Rolf Kaspar's Lichtburg - Historic Series is another 21-year- old Irish single malt whisky. Just like edition no. 8 it matured in an ex-rum cask and of course this malt is also bottled at cask strength (53.5%). Highly recommended!
Smokehead is a single malt whisky brand from bottler Ian Macleod. Just like with the earlier Smokehead bottlings, this is an anonymous peated islay whisky. And the age of this bottling is also unknown. The ABV content is a solid 58%.
According to some, this Smokehead Islay single malt whisky is young Caol Ila finished in Ardbeg casks. Perhaps. In any case, this is a beautiful, uncomplicated and pleasantly drinkable dram for the smoky whisky lover. At 43%.
This rum-finished Smokehead isn't all about peat and smoke. The Islay single malt whisky bottled by Ian Macleod has depth and is complex. The rum finish provides fruity and vibrant notes. All in all a very drinkable and original combination. At 46%.
Fruity & Fierce, Spicy & Smooth' is how bottler Ian Macleod characterizes this Smokehead Blast. It is, as always, a peated Islay single malt whisky, but this one is finished in oloroso sherry casks. A full, creamy, complex, and quite smoky dram. (48%)
Smokehead is the brand under which Ian Macleod bottles anonymous, peated Islay single malt whisky. The type of cask on which the whisky matured can differ, or the alcohol percentage. But never before has a Smokehead finished on tequila casks appeared.
A Speyside (TAM) single malt whisky? We know from a reliable source that this is not a Tamnavulin but a Tamdhu whisky that Signatory Vintage bottled for us. It matured for 11 years in Bolgheri (Tuscan wine) casks, quite special! For a nice price.(48.2%)
In the Secret Series, Vintage Bottlers releases bottlings of which they can not name the distillery. The whisky region is mentioned. But the label also mentions coordinates. Do they indicate that this is a Glenlivet single malt? (29 years old, 44.8%)
