In the very friendly priced 100 Proof series from bottler Signatory Vintage, this 12-year-old Glenlossie single malt whisky was released. The malt from the one-and-a-half-century-old Speyside distillery matured in 1st-fill oloroso and bourbon casks. 57.1%
'From Pitlochry to the world' is the motto of bottler Signatory Vintage. The world can be happy with this SV bottling: It is a 10-year-old Royal Brackla single malt whisky that is finished in a 1st-fill Pedro Ximénez cask and bottled at 48.2% ABV.
Ledaig is the characteristically peated single malt whisky from the Tobermory Distillery on the Scottish Isle of Mull. Bottler Cadenhead released this 14-year-old, bourbon-matured Ledaig in their favourably priced Original Collection. (bottled at 46%)
The MacDuff Distillery is located on the border of Speyside and the Highlands. Much of their malt whisky goes into blends, notably William Lawson's, but this is a single malt bottling by Cadenhead, 13 years old, bourbon matured and at 46% ABV.
Most of the single malt whisky that the Miltonduff distillery makes goes to the blend industry, especially Ballantine's. But next to occasional releases from the distillery itself, third-party bottlings are regularly released. Like this 10-year-old. (46%)
This Caol Ila single malt whisky matured for 16 years, the last two years of which in a 1st-fill Oloroso sherry cask. This is clearly visible in the colour. Bottler Van Wees, therefore, released the malt in the series The Ultimate-Sherry Cask Finish. 46%
And yet another strongly sherried Edradour single malt whisky from bottler Van Wees. And again in their Cask Strength series. This malt from the Southern Highlands aged for 10 years in an active sherry cask and is bottled at 59.3%.
Islay distillery Bruichladdich produced this unpeated single malt whisky with an experimental touch. The 8-year-old single malt is distilled from barley from various regional farms. A 'terroir' whisky, matured in three types of cask. (50%)
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a straight bourbon whiskey that is made in the traditional way and matured for 12 years. Matured in charred/toasted barrels of new American oak and bottled at a hefty 62,4% cask strength.
This is the 2017 '1st Release' of a 2005 batch distilled by the Balblair Distillery. The Highland single malt whisky matured for 12 years in bourbon casks and is bottled at 46% ABV. The whisky presents itself as a young, fresh, and fruity dram.
Some have suggested it could be Ben Nevis, others mention Ardmore, but whichever Highland distillery this single malt whisky is from, it's certainly worth a look! The malt has been matured for 18 years in a refill bourbon cask and is bottled at 54.0% ABV.
People who have already tasted this Glentauchers describe it as a rich, delicate, and elegant dram. The single malt whisky was bottled in 2023 by Chorlton Whisky after maturing for at least 26 years in a bourbon cask. (bottled at 51.5% cask strength)
Speyside Distillery Mannochmore shares some production facilities with nearby Glenlossie but has a character of its own. This 16-year-old bottling of the single malt whisky, that matured in a first-fill Oloroso cask certainly shows that. (54.7%)
The master distiller at Highland distillery Glencadam personally selected the casks in which this single malt whisky, released in the Small Batch series, matured: first in select ex-bourbon casks and then finished in Madeira wine casks. (bottled at 46%)
The Widow Jane Distillery is located in Brooklyn, New York. They distil corn, barley malt, and also rye malt as this bottle shows. As with their other whiskies, for the production of this Rye Mash natural limestone-filtered water has been used. At 45.5%.
A creamy dram with notes of citrus, sultanas, coconut, toasted grain, granola, mint and ginger. These notes and more make up the flavour palette of this 18-year-old, bourbon-matured Glentauchers single malt whisky, bottled by Thompson Bros at 52.4%.
The Distillery Reserve Collection is a series of bottlings of special whiskies from Chivas Brothers distilleries, all at cask strength. This bottle is from a 2018 edition: a 16-year-old, bourbon-matured Miltonduff single malt whisky. (56.6%)
In 2022, Mark & Kate Watt bottled this single malt whisky from the young Israeli M&H Whisky Distillery under the Watt Whisky label. The whisky had matured for 3 years in a shaved and then re-charred bourbon cask and was bottled at 57.1% cask strength.
An exemplary 'Laddie', is how tasters describe this 12-year-old Bruichladdich single malt whisky, bottled in 2018 by Archives in the Fishes of Samoa series. The Islay malt matured in an ex-bourbon cask and is bottled at a cask strength of 52.5%.
With their series Butterflies from the USA, Archives bottles whisky specifically for the American market. In this case, it concerns an American whisky released in 2018, a bourbon from Heaven Hill. The 9-year-old whisky is bottled at no less than 69.1%!
A very pleasantly drinkable, sweet and fruity Linkwood, that is how you can briefly describe this single malt whisky bottled by Archives in 2021. The Speysider, released in the famous Fishes of Samoa series, matured for 13 years in a bourbon cask. (56.3%)
Benromach is not averse to experimenting. This is also the case with this edition in their Contrast series. The single malt whisky is distilled from barley malt with a high enzyme content, a malt normally used for grain whisky. (12y, bourbon aged, 46%)
This Hemel & Hellevuur Dutch single malt whisky was also bottled by 3006 Whisky. The whisky from the young Brabant Bossche Stokers aged for 4 years in a 2nd fill Palo-Cortado octave cask, which is clearly visible from the colour and was bottled at 60.9%.
This 2024 release of a Glenturret standard bottling matured for 12 years in European and American oak casks. This produces a creamy, full-bodied single malt whisky with notes like raisins, sultanas, ginger, vanilla, cinnamon, and oak. Bottled at 46% ABV.
