The Taiwanese Whisky AGE bottled this Craigellachie single malt whisky in 2022 after it had matured in a bourbon cask for 13 years. An uncomplicated, accessible dram. Notes of yellow fruit, nuts and citrus, malty notes next to wood and spices. (53.8%)
This Glenallachie bottling has matured in bourbon, sherry and virgin oak casks. And that over a period of 15 years. This resulted in a complex palette of flavors and aromas. A complex but very drinkable single malt whisky, at a reasonable price. (46%)
Whiskybroker's Cree bottlings have an excellent price/quality ratio. That also applies to this Fettercairn. The Highland single malt whisky is 14 years old and was bottled at cask strength (52.0%). It matured in an ex-bourbon hogshead.
Special at Glen Spey are the purifiers on the spirit stills. These provide a greater 'reflux', which results in a lighter, delicate single malt whisky. Taste it with this 12-year-old Cree bottling. Finished in a superior bourbon cask. (52% cask strength)
The Aultmore Distillery is built about 130 years ago. As so many Speyside distilleries that mainly supply for the blends, Aultmore is not very well known. For those who want to taste their single malt whisky for a reasonable price, this Cree is an option!
The Nàdurra bottlings from Speyside Distillery Glenlivet are always 16 years old and at cask strength. This also applies to this edition that was bottled in 2014. The single malt whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks and was released at a solid 60.2%
Douglas Laing's Timorous Beastie series consists of blended Highland malts. And now the first bottling of the subseries The Cheese Cellar has been released. This brings the well-known combination of whisky and cheese to full advantage! (port matured, 48%)
In their La Nouvelle Vague series, bottler Chorlton Whisky also released this single malt whisky distilled on the Orkneys. We can assume that this is a Highland Park, and then one of 19 years old, aged in a bourbon cask and bottled at 54.3% cask strength.
A standard bottling from the almost two-century-old Highland distillery Ben Nevis. 10 years old, this single malt whisky is THE characteristic Ben Nevis profile. Although it is a standard bottling, editions are quite rare. So pay attention! (46%)
Fercullen First Release, the first whisky from the new Irish Powerscourt Distillery. In Irish tradition, this is a triple-distilled single malt whisky (or 'whiskey' in Irish)—a pleasantly drinkable, promising whisky with character. Bottled at 46%.
Dubhghlas is Scottish for 'black water', and that is the name in Dutch of the river where a new distillery has been built. And this bottling is a preview of the whiskies that Dubhghlas wants to bring to the market. It is a grain, this spirit, at 63.7%.
Invergordon is one of the best-known and well-appreciated single grain whiskies. So pay attention to this bottling from Berry Bros & Rudd. This Invergordon matured for 34 years in a bourbon cask, a barrel. Of course,e it is bottled at cask strength: 59.6%
Berry Bros & Rudd managed to get hold of a cask of BenRiach single malt whisky from well before the brand's resurrection in 2004. The cask, a bourbon hogshead, yielded 254 bottles of an approximately 32-year-old, 48.3% strong BenRiach. Quite special!
An excellent whisky to enjoy with dessert, for example. This single malt whisky from Speyside Distillery BenRiach, bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd, matured in a PX cask for the last two years of its approximately 13 years of maturation. Bottled at 61.1%.
In 1973, The Balvenie Distillery in Speyside began bottling their single malt whisky. And now, about fifty years later, the brand is in the top 10 of best-selling single malts. This Caribbean is a 14-year-old Balvenie finished on rum casks. At 43%.
The fact that single malt whisky often matures in sherry casks is nothing special, but maturation in fino sherry casks is. Fino is a dry sherry that matured under a layer of yeast, the 'flor'. That gives an extra taste experience to this Kilchoman. (50%)
This Ichiro's Malt is a blend of single malt whisky from Chichibu and the now-closed Hanyu with a little Scottish malt. The whiskies matured in different casks but were finished together in a French oak cask that once contained Japanese red wine. (46,5%.)
The Fettercairn Distillery has been around for 2 centuries, but their single malt whisky, despite some surprisingly good bottlings, has never become very well known. Get to know this Highlander through this 13-year-old, bourbon-aged edition by 3006 Whisky
A special edition from the young, sustainable Nc'nean Distillery. The single malt whisky was aged for 35% in bourbon and for 65% in re-charred red wine casks, delivering a buttery and creamy taste, with notes of sweet fruit, caramel and toffee. (48,5%)
The colorful head of a crowned pigeon adorns this bottling from the German Liquid Treasures. Behind the label is a 12-year-old Macduff (also known as Glen Deveron). The single malt whisky matured in a bourbon barrel and was bottled at 56.9% ABV.
The Whiskey Fair is the label under which the annual whisky festival in Limburg, Germany, releases bottlings. This Cooley 2001 is one of the bottles for the 2023 edition. This 21-year-old Irish single malt whisky matured in an Amarone cask. (55.8%)
Glenfarclas is a topper when it comes to sherried single malt whisky. And then their single cask bottlings in The Family Casks series belong again to the top of this Speyside distillery. This edition matured for over 30 years in a large sherry cask. 55.6%
A famous range of sherried single malt whiskies is The Family Casks by Glenfarclas. Cask strength bottlings and matured in sherry casks. They are single-cask bottlings, so each edition is unique. This one is 27 years old and bottled at 50.2% cask strength
Distilling since 2013 in the far north of Scotland, Wolfburn reached a new milestone with the release of their first batch of 10-year-old whisky. This whisky fully matured in Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 46%. Non-chill-filtered and natural color
