For the Dutch The Specialists' Choice, The Whisky Agency bottled this Bunnahabhain single malt whisky in 2011. The 'Bunna' matured for 10 years in a sherry cask. It is a pleasantly drinkable, pleasantly sherried dram. (Bottled at 46% in 414 bottles)
The Redbreast 18-year-old is a new core bottling from this brand. The single pot-still whisky matured in a unique combination of casks: bourbon, Ruby Port, Oloroso and Cream Sherry. This resulted in a creamy, fruity and spicy, very drinkable dram. (46%)
This Hemel & Hellevuur (Heaven & Hellfire) Dutch single malt whisky is bottled by 3006 Whisky. The whisky from the young Brabant distillery Bossche Stokers matured for 5 years in an Oloroso octave cask, and is bottled at a cask strength of 54.7%.
Over the years, Ardbeg has released several experimental bottlings. In 2014, there was, among others, this extra special Auriverdes Gold, in a limited edition of only 300 bottles. The peated single malt whisky matured in toasted American oak. (49.9% ABV)
This Chieftain's edition, a bottling of the lightly peated Highland whisky Ardmore, was released in 2012. The single malt matured for a total of 10 years, with the final period spent in a Manzanilla cask. It was bottled at a cask strength of 55.9% ABV.
Smokehead is a single malt whisky brand from bottler Ian Macleod. As with the previous Smokehead bottlings, this is an anonymous peated Islay whisky. Often the age of these bottlings is unknown, but this is a malt that matured for 15 years. (43% ABV)
For this Limited Edition, Ardbeg created an extra-concentrated 'mash', the barley malt batter from which the spirit for single malt whisky is eventually distilled. This resulted in intense fruity and sweet notes. A rich, smoky, tropical dram! (48.3%)
The Glen Spey distillery, which started in 1897, has been underexposed, as it actually only produces for the blending industry. So it is not due to the quality of its single malt whisky, as this TWA bottling proves! (26y, bourbon-matured, 49.8% ABV)
The Enigma bottlings from Cadenhead, as the name suggests, do not mention the distillery. With this edition, we have to make do with the knowledge that it is an 11-year-old, oloroso-matured Lowland single malt whisky at 57.5% ABV. For a nice price!
The Arran Distillery has been experimenting with finishing its single malt whisky since the early 2000s. This dram, matured in a Premier Cru Sauternes cask, is a good example of this. Powerful, yet light and fruity. (56.2%)
This is a bottle from an early single cask bottling from the Isle of Arran Distillery. The 7-year-old Arran single malt whisky was bottled in 2004 in 299 bottles, at a cask strength of 57.3%. A powerful, well-balanced and surprisingly complex dram.
In 2015, The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. released a sherried Ledaig that was very well received by many. The peated single malt from the Tobermory Distillery matured for 17 years in a sherry cask and is bottled at 56.5%. Creamy, sweet fruit and earthy.
In 2007, bottler Speciality Drinks (now Elixir Distillers) released this Aultmore single malt whisky. The Speysider matured for 15 years in three bourbon casks before being bottled in 810 bottles at 46% ABV. A fresh, dry and intensely malty dram.
This Blue Spot is an Irish single pot-still whiskey, distilled by Midleton (1975-). Because it matured for 7 years in bourbon, sherry and madeira casks, it has a rich flavour palette, ranging from butter cake to wine gum, from apricot to guava. (58.4%)
In 2016, 594 bottles of Springbank single malt whisky that matured for 8 years in 1st-fill sherry casks were bottled for the members of the Springbank Society. A complex, full-bodied dram with rich sherry influences, but certainly a true Springbank. 57.2%
In 2017, this Longrow was bottled especially for the members of the Springbank Society (Springbank is the distillery of Longrow single malt whisky). The malt matured for 9 years in Sauternes wine casks and is bottled at a cask strength of 56.3% ABV.
In 2014, the Glendronach Distillery bottled this 21-year-old single malt whisky especially for us. It is a true, classic Glendronach, matured in an oloroso sherry cask. The reviews are raving, and it gets a score of almost 90 points. (52.1%)
The spirit for this Glenury Royal single malt whisky was casked in 1968. In 2005, more than 36 years later and twenty years after the distillery closed, the Highlander was bottled as a Diageo Special release at 51.2% cask strength. A unique bottle!
Under the famous bottler's brand Silver Seal, this single malt from the Glenury Royal Distillery, which closed in 1985, was released in 2001. The Highlander matured for 20 years in a sherry cask and was bottled at 56.3% ABV. A real collector's item!
After Lowlands distillery Rosebank closed its doors in 1993, new bottlings of the 'triple distilled' single malt whisky were released regularly until 2010, but hardly any more after that. That makes this Diageo bottling extra special. (21y, 55.3%)
More than thirty years ago, Lowlands distillery Rosebank closed its doors. Until 2010, new bottlings of the 'triple distilled' single malt whisky were released, but after that, hardly any more. That makes this G&M bottling extra special. (+/- 24y, 46%)
To the regret of many whisky lovers, the Caperdonich Distillery closed in 2002. Ten years later, this Director's Cut bottling from Douglas Laing was released: a 30 (!) year old, refill sherry cask-matured Caperdonich single malt. (50.9%, score: 90.1)
Under the Chieftain label of bottler Ian Macleod, this Mortlach was released in 2017, bottled for the Taiwanese market. With its 20 years of maturation in a first-fill oloroso cask, it is a perfectly sherried single malt whisky. (57.7% ABV, score 89.8)
