And yet another strongly sherried Edradour single malt whisky from bottler Van Wees. And again in their Cask Strength series. This malt from the Southern Highlands aged for 9 years in an active sherry cask and is bottled at 59.2%. For the 'sherry lover’!
The Duvel Moortgat Brewery is known for its beer, but sometimes, it also distils whisky. This Celebration Bottle was released in 2023. The 10-year-old, bourbon and sherry-aged, marsala-finished single malt whisky was bottled in this nice bottle at 40%.
The High West Distillery started in 2006 in Utah as a small distiller. In the meantime, it has grown into a producer of bourbon, rye and even oat whiskey. And this bottling is a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys, also quite special! Bottled at 46%.
This is an interesting Archives bottling, especially for fans of Springbank single malt whisky but also for whisky lovers in general. The Campbeltonian matured for 22 years in a bourbon hogshead and was bottled in 2018 at 54.9% cask strength.
Rossville Union is the brand under which the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana, US, releases rye whisky. They do this according to a traditional recipe and process. This Master Crafted edition is 5 years old and aged in freshly charred oak casks. (47%)
The Akashi Meïsei Deluxe is a Japanese blended whisky from the Eigashima Shuzo Distillery. It is a mix of 50% malt and 50% grain whisky that first matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in sherry casks. A mild whisky with a subtle sherry influence. 50%
In the very friendly priced 100 Proof series from bottler Signatory Vintage, this 12-year-old Glenlossie single malt whisky was released. The malt from the one-and-a-half-century-old Speyside distillery matured in 1st-fill oloroso and bourbon casks. 57.1%
'From Pitlochry to the world' is the motto of bottler Signatory Vintage. The world can be happy with this SV bottling: It is a 10-year-old Royal Brackla single malt whisky that is finished in a 1st-fill Pedro Ximénez cask and bottled at 48.2% ABV.
Most of the single malt whisky that the Miltonduff distillery makes goes to the blend industry, especially Ballantine's. But next to occasional releases from the distillery itself, third-party bottlings are regularly released. Like this 10-year-old. (46%)
This Caol Ila single malt whisky matured for 16 years, the last two years of which in a 1st-fill Oloroso sherry cask. This is clearly visible in the colour. Bottler Van Wees, therefore, released the malt in the series The Ultimate-Sherry Cask Finish. 46%
Islay distillery Bruichladdich produced this unpeated single malt whisky with an experimental touch. The 8-year-old single malt is distilled from barley from various regional farms. A 'terroir' whisky, matured in three types of cask. (50%)
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a straight bourbon whiskey that is made in the traditional way and matured for 12 years. Matured in charred/toasted barrels of new American oak and bottled at a hefty 62,4% cask strength.
A creamy dram with notes of citrus, sultanas, coconut, toasted grain, granola, mint and ginger. These notes and more make up the flavour palette of this 18-year-old, bourbon-matured Glentauchers single malt whisky, bottled by Thompson Bros at 52.4%.
Bottled by Archives in 2019, this Bruichladdich turns out to be a perfectly sherried single malt whisky. The Islay malt matured for 18 years in a 1st-fill sherry cask, and that is reflected in powerful notes such as red fruits, cocoa and chocolate. 56.3%
This bottle is from an Archives bottling, especially for the USA. Bottled in 2019 in 270 bottles at 750ml, the Deanston single malt whisky matured for 21 years in a bourbon cask. As usual with Archives bottlings, the Highlander is at cask strength (52.7%)
At 64.8% cask strength, this celebratory bottling from Whiskybase (120,000 bottles in its database) from 2019 is a big boy. It's an 11-year-old, sherry-matured single malt whisky from an unnamed Speyside distillery (we're guessing Glenrothes).
With this Exclusive Cask edition, Lindores Abbey congratulates Whisky Import Netherlands on their 20th anniversary. The Lowland single malt whisky matured for 5 years in a Palo Cortado sherry cask, from which 627 bottles came at a cask strength of 59.2%.
With their series Butterflies from the USA, Archives bottles whisky specifically for the American market. In this case, it concerns an American whisky released in 2018, a bourbon from Heaven Hill. The 9-year-old whisky is bottled at no less than 69.1%!
Benromach is not averse to experimenting. This is also the case with this edition in their Contrast series. The single malt whisky is distilled from barley malt with a high enzyme content, a malt normally used for grain whisky. (12y, bourbon aged, 46%)
This Hemel & Hellevuur Dutch single malt whisky was also bottled by 3006 Whisky. The whisky from the young Brabant Bossche Stokers aged for 4 years in a 2nd fill Palo-Cortado octave cask, which is clearly visible from the colour and was bottled at 60.9%.
The sustainable Picadilly Distillery at the foot of the Himalayas has been releasing single malt whisky since 2020. What makes this edition special is that the malt is peated with Indian peat, which enriches the whisky with peat smoke notes. (3y, 58.5%)
In 2022, Whiskybase celebrated the 190,000th bottle in the whisky database with this bottling of a 9-year-old Balblair single malt whisky that matured in a 1st-fill bourbon cask. The thick, creamy malt has notes of banana, nougat, cocoa and quince. 58.7%
Scapa is the lesser-known of the two Orkney single malt whiskies, and this is a good bottling to get acquainted with it. The whisky matured for 10 years in a small number of bourbon casks and is bottled at 48% ABV. For a reasonable price, it can be yours!
To celebrate the 11th anniversary of their single malt whisky, Stokerij De Molenberg released this Gouden Carolus Pedro. The Belgian malt aged in bourbon and beer casks and is finished in Spanish vermouth casks. That vermouth was made from PX grapes. 46%
