This core bottling from Glenmorangie has been finished in PX and oloroso-sherry casks. This is reflected in notes like raisins, figs and chocolate biscuits. A beautiful, warm whisky for winter evenings, this 12-year-old Highlander. Bottled at 43%.
In 2023, the Diageo Special Releases again offer many surprises! This 'The Floral Treasure' from Glenkinchie, for example: the Edinburgh single malt whisky is no less than 27 years old and matured in both American and European oak casks. (58.3%)
The first edition of Roseisle single malt whisky! The distillery, built by Diageo and opened in 2010, primarily produces for the blending industry. But now in Diageo's Special Releases this 12-year-old, bourbon-matured Roseisle! (bottled at 56.5%)
This Laphroaig single malt whisky has no age. According to the distillery, this is a blend of Laphroaigs aged between 7 and 21 years. In any case, mixing the content of different cask types produces a real Laphroaig with a character of its own! (58%)
This Cley single malt was triple distilled in a copper pot still. It matured in a virgin oak cask for 3 years, and was finished for 1.5 years in a cask, formerly used for maturing Glen Scotia single malt. Intense notes of pear, banana and marzipan. (53%)
The 18-year-old version is one of the core bottlings from Highland distillery Glencadam. The single malt whisky matured in carefully selected ex-bourbon casks. Smooth and pleasant to drink, with fruity notes and notes like vanilla and nutmeg. (46%)
This Benrinnes single malt whisky matured in three first-fill bourbon casks. After 10 years it was released by Van Wees under the 'The Ultimate' label, known for its affordable bottlings. An excellent option to get to know this Speysider! Bottled at 46%.
Although one of the larger single malt whisky distilleries in the Speyside, Dailuaine is not very well known. They hardly release distillery bottlings. So we have to look at bottlers like Van Wees, with this 13-year-old dram, for example, bottled at 46%.
The Waterford Woodbrook is a firmly peated Irish single malt whisky, distilled according to the terroir principle and therefore released in the Single Farm Origin series. The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks, new oak casks and French wine casks. (50%)
The Dutch Hogshead Imports checks with each bottling which alcohol percentage best suits the whisky. For example, this 19-year-old single malt whisky from an unnamed Highland distillery that matured in a refill bourbon cask, is bottled at 48%.
The young Indian distillery Piccadily, where among others a Scottish master distiller works, was awarded the title Best Indian Single Malt for one of its earlier bottlings. That makes you curious about this bourbon-matured Drú at cask strength (57.2%)
This is a bottle from the 32nd bottling from the classic A'bunadh series from Speyside distillery Aberlour. The A'bunadh series is seen as an example of well-sherried single malt whisky. This batch 32 was released in 2010, at a cask strength of 60.4%.
This bottle is one of the first 500 bottles in the Whiskybase. This is also an exceptional bottle in other respects: it is a 32-year-old, sherried Springbank single malt whisky with a vintage year of 1971! And then it scores more than 91 points! (46%)
There are whisky enthusiasts who still regret the closure of the Lochside Distillery in 1992. The single malt whisky from the Highland distillery was highly appreciated! We hope to provide some comfort with this 19-year-old Lochside bottling from 2011.
Aged in PX and oloroso sherry casks, in red wine and virgin oak casks. Notes such as heather, honey, red fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate. Complex and balanced. This is batch 10 of the 10-year-old Glenallachie Cask Strength single malt whisky. 58.6%
The Timorous Beastie Meet The Beast is a blend of Highland single malt whiskies. This Beast matured in bourbon casks and is bottled at cask strength. In addition to the whisky, this bottle comes with special glasses that will reveal a beastly secret!
This Arran bottling is certainly not a standard bottling! The 17-year-old single malt whisky matured in different types of casks: first and second-fill sherry casks and first-fill bourbon casks. It was bottled in a limited edition at 46% ABV.
This Equinox bottling in The Whiskymaker's Editions from the English The Lakes Distillery matured in Oloroso sherry and Muscatel casks. This gives the single malt whisky notes like apricot, sandalwood, apple and pear, orange blossom and sweet herbs. 46.6%
Bowmore, on the Isle of Islay, is one of Scotland's oldest and best-known distilleries. Next to standard bottlings, Bowmore also releases special editions of their single malt whisky, like this one: matured for 21 years in select French wine casks, 48.4%.
Where can you come across bottles like this anymore? Well, with us! Some still mourn the closing of the Convalmore Distillery in 1985. Rightly so! This 26-year-old Convalmore single malt whisky can certainly soothe that sadness! (bottled at 46%)
About ten years ago, bottler Cadenhead released this special bottling for the Belgian market. It is a 35 year (!) old Tomatin single malt whisky that matured in a bourbon cask. Nearly 200 tasters gave this dram an average of 90 points! (46.5%)
We're not telling anything new by revealing that the name Orkney Islands hides the single malt whisky from Highland Park. And then you know that this will be a desirable bottling: the HP malt matured in a bourbon cask for twenty long years. (54.7%)
Fettercairn started distilling whisky two centuries ago, and the spirit for their single malt whisky still flows from the stills. Hart Brothers chose a bourbon cask on which Fettercairn aged for 15 years for their Single Cask - Cask Strength series. 55.9%
The name of the Single Cask - Cask Strength series from Hart Brothers says it all. The Glenallachie of this bottling comes from one cask, in which it matured for 14 years, and is bottled at the strength with which it came from that cask (56. 1%).
