About twenty years ago, Miyagikyo distillery, which produces the least peated whisky of the Japanese Nikka group, released this 15-year-old, sherry-cask-matured single malt. A subtle, elegant, and complex dram. It is filled at 45% ABV.
This 10-year-old Miyagikyo single malt whisky was released in 2009, bottled for La Maison du Whisky. A fine example of Japanese whisky, with its floral and fruity notes, soft smoothness, and perfect balance. A very pleasantly drinkable dram! 45% ABV
The Dingle Whiskey Distillery in Ireland uses three different pot stills to distil its whisky. Besides single malt whisky (as well as vodka and gin), they also produce single pot still whisky. This one aged in bourbon, Oloroso, PX, and wine casks. 46.5%.
This Dingle 10 Years Old is a standard bottling from Ireland's Dingle distillery. The single malt matured in a combination of three cask types: bourbon (65%), port (30%), and PX (5%). This resulted in a dram with a complex aroma and flavour palette. 46.5%
This is a 2022 James Eadie bottling of an 11-year-old Benrinnes single malt whisky, finished in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask. The malt has a rich, sherry-infused nose. The high cask strength of 59.9% invites you to experiment with a drop of water.
If you'd like to try a sherried Speysider, this Glentauchers single malt whisky, bottled by Van Wees, is definitely worth a try, and not just because of its nice price! The whisky matured for 11 years in a refill Oloroso sherry cask. (Attention: 66.5%!)
This 12-year-old Benrinnes single malt whisky is finished in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask. It's released by Dutch bottler Van Wees under the Ultimate label, known for its affordable bottlings. A great way to get to know this Speysider! (46%)
Glenmorangie, never afraid to experiment with maturation, released with this Tale of Spices a complex single malt whisky which matured in four cask types: Moroccan red wine casks, PX casks, charred new oak casks, and re-charred bourbon casks. (46% ABV)
This 12-year-old single malt whisky was released in 2025 as part of The Master Blender's European Collection from Glenallachie. Quite remarkable: the Speysider matured the entire period in a European virgin oak cask. It is bottled at a very robust 61.7%!
In 2013, the two-century-old Highland distillery Glencadam bottled a limited edition of this Reserva de Jerez, a 15-year-old single malt whisky, finished in Oloroso sherry casks. An easy-drinking dram, intense and with an oily mouthfeel. (46% ABV)
This Edradour single malt whisky matured for nearly 13 years in four select Pinot Noir casks. The Highlander is bottled from these casks at a strength of 48.2% ABV. It's a fruity dram (think red fruit, apple juice, grapes, and berries) with woody notes.
A new bottling from the non-commercial casQueteers: it's a 19-year-old Tomatin single malt whisky, matured in an ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at a cask strength of 49.8% ABV. It's a complex, creamy dram with an invitingly varied flavour palette.
This is a Drink Limited bottling from 2023, and it's another special one: the Tobermory single malt whisky matured for 27 years in a select bourbon cask. This resulted in intense notes of apple, pear, and citrus, and chocolate, ginger, and vanilla. 53.4%
Under the Drink Limited brand, Limited Whisky releases high-quality bottlings that appeal to connoisseurs and collectors. Here, for example, is a distinctive Ben Nevis single malt whisky that matured for 23 years in a well-charred bourbon cask. (50.8%)
