To the regret of many whisky lovers, the Caperdonich Distillery closed in 2002. Ten years later, this Director's Cut bottling from Douglas Laing was released: a 30 (!) year old, refill sherry cask-matured Caperdonich single malt. (50.9%, score: 90.1)
A real collector's item, this Mackillop's Choice bottling: it is a 28-year-old Linlithgow, a single malt whisky from the legendary St. Magdalene distillery, which closed in 1983. The Lowlands malt matured in an ex-bourbon cask. (57.3% cask strength)
Under the Chieftain label of bottler Ian Macleod, this Mortlach was released in 2017, bottled for the Taiwanese market. With its 20 years of maturation in a first-fill oloroso cask, it is a perfectly sherried single malt whisky. (57.7% ABV, score 89.8)
This 10-year-old Ledaig is the first edition of this peated single malt whisky that is bottled at cask strength by the Tobermory distillery. The characteristic earthy notes are clearly present, peat smoke of course, vanilla, candied fruit, tobacco. 58.8%
The list of top bottlings that The Whisky Agency has released over the years certainly includes this Glenrothes single malt, a joint bottling with The Whisky Exchange from 2017. The Speysider matured for 20 years in a sherry cask. (51.3%; score: 89.7)
In 1973, the spirit for this Glen Grant single malt went into the (sherry) cask, where it matured for 36 years, before being bottled in 2010 by The Whisky Agency at a relatively high cask strength (53.6%). Keywords: intense, complex, perfect, balanced.
The Whisky Agency released this Glengoyne single malt in 2011 in their series The Perfect Dram. And rightly so! With its 38 years of maturation in a fine ex-bourbon cask, this is a subtle, deliciously drinkable dram with a complex flavour palette. (46.3%)
In 2015, the Scottish Rest & be Thankful Whisky Company released this 10-year-old Bruichladdich single malt whisky. The Islay malt matured in a Cadiz wine cask and was bottled at cask strength. And with 65.2%, 'strength' is the right word here!

This PC5 is the 1st edition in the Port Charlotte Evolution series. The heavily peated single malt whisky from Bruichladdich on Islay was bottled in 2006 in over 6000 bottles, at a cask strength of 63.5% (!), after 5 years of maturation in bourbon casks.
This Glen Scotia single malt is a release in honor of the 2025 Campbeltown Malts Festival, and what a release it is! The 9 year old Glen Scotia is heavily peated, and in addition, it is finished for five months in Ribera del Duero red wine casks! (54.3%)
After almost two and a half centuries of activity in the Lowlands, the Littlemill Distillery closed its doors in 1996. And some twenty years after that closure, Cadenhead released a 24-year-old, bourbon-matured bottling of the single malt whisky. (52.2%)
After Lowland distillery Littlemill closed for good in 1996, there were still (independent) bottlings of the single malt whisky. In 2014, Liquid Sun released this 25-year-old, bourbon-matured edition, a whisky with a vintage year 1988. (49.3%)

This collector's item is still available here and there, but nowhere for such a favourable price as with us. This is a bottle from a Littlemill bottling by The Whisky Agency, released in 2014. The 24-year-old single malt matured in a bourbon cask. (48.7%)
This is one of those whiskies that makes you happy. This Mortlach single malt whisky was bottled in 2015 by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society at 52.2% cask strength after 27 years of maturation in a bourbon cask. Complex, yet very drinkable and gratifying.
They are almost impossible to come by anymore, those bottlings of Speyside single malts with a vintage in the 70s, a maturation period of 40 years or more and scores of over 90 points. But here is one! A 42-year-old, fino sherry-matured dram. (49.8%)
This Daily Dram bottling from 2016 scores over 91 points on the Whiskybase! It is a blend of Speyside single malt whiskies that matured for 40 years in a fino sherry cask. The whisky is praised for its fullness and harmonious complexity. (47.2%)
Rumour has it that this single malt whisky, released by Sansibar in 2015, is a Macallan. In any case, it is a Speyside malt that went into the (sherry) cask in 1977 and was bottled 38 years later at 46.1%. It scores over 90 points on whiskybase.com.
This is one of those drams that you really have to sit down and sip. It is a 38-year-old Bunnahabhain bottling from Malts of Scotland. The (unpeated) Islay single malt whisky matured in a sherry cask and is bottled at a cask strength of 50.2% ABV.
