Berry Bros & Rudd released this 11-year-old single malt whisky in their series A Single Cask Collection: Coast & Shores, produced by one of the most famous Islay distilleries. The heavily peated malt is finished in an Oloroso sherry cask. (58.1%)
Bessie Williamson was once the owner-manager of the Laphroaig Distillery. But that's not the point. Berry Bros & Rudd comes here with an 11-year-old Williamson single malt whisky, finished in a Moscatel cask and bottled for the Dutch market. (60.9%)
This is the first bottling from Lindores Abbey to celebrate the historic links with the French abbey in Thiron-Gardais. This single malt whisky matured in bourbon and red wine casks, as well as in new oak casks from trees around the abbey. (49.4%)
The Ardnamurchan 2016 AD/10:16 is a peated single malt whisky matured in a first-fill bourbon cask. This Highlander first reveals sweet notes, white and yellow fruit. Then notes like eucalyptus, menthol, pepper and sweet smoke emerge. (57.1%)
This unpeated Ardnamurchan single malt whisky is a single cask bottling, bottled for and selected by Whisky Import Nederland. The around 8-year-old West Highlander is full and spicy, with salty notes. A very tasty dram, bottled at 57.1% cask strength.
This is a sherried, lightly peated single malt whisky from the young Highland distillery Ardnamurchan. What is special about this bottling is that it matured in, as usual, non-peated PX casks, but also in peated Oloroso casks. It makes one curious! (50%)
The first 10-year-old Ardnamurchan single malt whisky! This is the 10th Anniversary Edition. It matured in bourbon casks and Paul Launois wine casks. Lots of tropical fruit on the nose, and grapefruit, pineapple and banana. Oily on the palate. (50%)
An excellent example of Bruichladdich’s trademark lactic notes alongside citrus, stone fruit, pastry, spices, minerals, and herbs: it’s got it all! The subtle hint of smoke which is very, very subtle gives this whisky an interesting character. (15y-55.6%)
Teaninich has no real distillery bottlings and distils almost exclusively for the blending industry. So we have to look for independent bottlings like this one from James Eadie. The 15-year-old single malt whisky is finished in an Oloroso cask. (55.1%)
What can we say? Every year around this time, Van Wees comes with a Saint & Peat bottling of a peated Islay single malt whisky. They are always young single malts, so the price can be pleasantly limited. A Dutch festivity right before Christmas! (55%)
This 18 year old single malt whisky is a core bottling from the Isle of Arran Distillery. This bottle is from batch 2024. The whisky matured in specially selected sherry casks, which gives notes of orange, dark chocolate and baked peach. (46%)
The Diageo Special Release 2024 also includes this bottling from the Glen Ord distillery (known in Asia as The Singleton of Glen Ord). The 14-year-old single malt whisky matured in bourbon casks and is partly finished in select European oak casks. (54.7%)
The 2nd edition of Roseisle single malt whisky! The distillery, built by Diageo and opened in 2010, primarily produces for the blending industry. But now again, in Diageo's Special Releases, this 12-year-old, bourbon-matured Roseisle! (bottled at 55.6%)
The Diageo Special Releases 2024 also includes this Coastal Orchard, a 10-year-old Oban single malt whisky. The name of this edition was not chosen for nothing: it is a whisky with many fruity notes such as apricot, green apple and orange. (58.0%)
Lagavulin is a true Islay topper, and this Diageo Special Release shows why. This bottling emphasizes the milder, spicy and sweet side of the peated single malt whisky that matured for 12 years in bourbon casks for this edition. (57.4% cask strength)
This Diageo Special Release brings out the distinct character of Talisker single malt whisky with maritime notes of seaweed, sea salt and oysters, but there are certainly also fruity and spicy notes, alongside a medium smokiness. (8y, bottled at 58.7%)
For when you want something different: an unpeated Caol Ila single malt whisky! This whisky has also undergone a shorter fermentation, which gives it a very creamy mouthfeel, and it is distilled in such a way that you taste green apples. (11y, 57.3%)
FEW Spirits in Illinois distils craft bourbon, rye whiskey and gin, as well as products like this Black Rebel Motorcycle Club that they call 'an uneasy mix of whiskey' themselves. The whisky is finished in rum and vermouth casks and bottled at 50.5% ABV
Heaven's Door, founded in 2015 by Bob Dylan, bottles exceptional American and Irish whiskies. This, for example, is a straight bourbon whiskey finished in Calvados casks and on toasted oak staves, released in the Exploration Series. (54%)
