Rarely do we have new make spirit on offer, the liquid straight from the still that is supposed to become whisky, but this Dubhghlas Peatsieis one! From the quirky, young distillery of a Dutch sailor couple. A delicious, peated spirit. (63.35% ABV)
This Rare Malts Selection is one of the first 500 whiskies registered in the Whiskybase. It is a Dufftown single malt whisky that was vatted in bourbon casks half a century ago and matured for 21 years. The Speysider is bottled at 54.8% cask strength.
In the spring of 2017, Cadenhead bottled this Dufftown single malt whisky after it had matured for 38 years, since 1978, in a bourbon cask. A mature 'old school' whisky! This is also evident from the score of 89 points on Whiskybase. (44.6% ABV)
Dufftown single malt whisky is known for bottlings under the Singleton brand (Singleton or Dufftown). But third parties also release Dufftown bottlings, like this one from Berry Bros & Rudd. The 12-year-old whisky is finished in a PX sherry cask. (54.9%)

With only 3 men in the production, Edradour is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. This 10-year-old Distillery Edition with its hints of honey, heather and citrus is a good example of their single malt. Bottled at 40%.
The cask from which this bottling of an Edradour single malt whisky came was selected by songwriter Dougie Maclean. The bottling is named after his song Caledonia. Incidentally, it was an Oloroso sherry cask, on which the malt matured for 12 years. (46%)
And yet another strongly sherried Edradour single malt whisky from bottler Van Wees. And again in their Cask Strength series. This malt from the Southern Highlands aged for 10 years in an active sherry cask and is bottled at 59.3%.
New to Elixir Distillers' Elements of Islay series are the Islay blended malt whiskies. Released not in the well-known 50 cl, but in 70 cl bottles. Like this blend of Islay single malt whiskies, that matured in ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 54.5%.
Well known and appreciated are the Elements of Islay editions from Elixir Distillers with cask strength Islay single malt whiskies. Now they also release blends of Islay single malts in that series. Like this one that aged in bourbon and sherry casks. 46%
