One of the 5 official Scottish whisky regions. Until the 19th century, mainly illegal whisky distilleries were located in this large area. Now there are about 30 distilleries that often have their own character. In the Highlands lies the Speyside which with its 50 distilleries is officially a region of its own. The Highlands also officially include a number of islands that informally form the Islands region.
Distilling since 2013 in the far north of Scotland, Wolfburn reached a new milestone with the release of their first batch of 10-year-old whisky. This whisky fully matured in Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 46%. Non-chill-filtered and natural color
This Batch 2, released in 2013, is slightly different than the Batch 3 of a series of Cask Strength bottlings bottled in the same year. This single malt whisky also matured in Oloroso and PX casks and is therefore again a real Glendronach. (55.2%)
Ben Nevis is one of our favorites and we are certainly enthusiastic about the Archives bottlings with vintage 1996. This is one from that year! Bottled in 2020. It's a bit darker than usual but still a typical Ben Nevis single malt whisky! (49.9%)
With Taiwanese ART, Archives bottled a Ben Nevis single malt whisky in 2015 that had matured for 16 years in a bourbon cask. A beautiful combination of the fruity, maritime and modestly smoky character of the Islay malt and the notes of the cask. (55.4%)
This bottle is from an Archives bottling, especially for the USA. Bottled in 2019 in 270 bottles at 750ml, the Deanston single malt whisky matured for 21 years in a bourbon cask. As usual with Archives bottlings, the Highlander is at cask strength (52.7%)
A nice single cask bottling from their own distillery. This 10 year old Edradour single malt whisky is bottled by Signatory Vintage in their competitively priced The Un-Chillfiltered Collection. The Edradour matured in a sherry cask and is bottled at 46%.
The Glenfarclas 105 - Aged 12 Years is a limited edition single malt whisky from the Speyside distillery. Fully matured in sherry casks and bottled at a sturdy 60% ABV, this 12-year-old is richer, milder and more mature than the 'regular' 105.
When this Jack Wiebers bottling was released in 2006, the Glenglassaugh Distillery had been mothballed for twenty years (only to reopen in 2008). The single malt whisky in this bottling matured for 20 years in a sherry cask and was bottled at 54.6%.
