Single malt whisky is a mixture of malt whisky from casks of the same distillery. Malt whisky is made from barley malt and distilled in pot stills, and has matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. This whisky usually has a for the distillery characteristic flavor. Is considered the classic whisky.
This Tomatin Single Highland Malt was bottled by the distillery in 2005 for the Italian market. The single malt whisky is 10 years old and filled at 40% ABV. A simple dram with a vintage in the last century. Always interesting.

A new bottling from the non-commercial casQueteers: it's a 19-year-old Tomatin single malt whisky, matured in an ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at a cask strength of 49.8% ABV. It's a complex, creamy dram with an invitingly varied flavour palette.
With this Cù Bòcan, Tomatin releases a peated variant of its single malt whisky. This 5th edition matured on Colombian oak, which gives this whisky some special notes. The bottle itself expresses the smoky, fiery character of Cù Bòcan. (46%)
The Legacy is the 'entry-level model' of Highland distillery Tomatin. Matured in bourbon and new oak casks, this malt has notes of pear, citrus, pineapple and vanilla, with some pepper and cocoa in the taste. And that at 43% and at a modest price.
Tomintoul whisky has a light profile. Almost the entire production is for the blends, but 2% is bottled as single malt. Like this 10 year old. With its floral, fresh-fruity notes and hints of wood, honey and vanilla a nice 'all day dram'.
The Tomintoul Distillery started in the 1960s, and has been releasing bottlings of their single malt whisky since 1974. Third parties also market this Speysider. As Chapter 7 does here with this malt that matured for 11 years in an Amontillado cask. 52.5%
This Torabhaig single malt is one of the first independent bottlings from the young Skye-based distillery, bottled by newcomer Living Souls. The whisky matured for 7 years in bourbon casks. Bonfire smoke, orchard fruit, and maritime notes. (51.5% ABV)
In January 2017, Torabhaig opened its doors as the second whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye. After a first single cask bottling at the end of 2020, this is Torabhaig's second single malt whisky: the Legacy 1. Traditional, artisanal and peated. At 46%.

The pre-release of the 2026 relaunch of Tormore single malt whisky has already appeared, but this is an 'old' bottling, from 2016. And what an old one! 28 years old, bourbon-matured, and bottled at 50.4% cask strength by Antique Lions of Spirits.

This Velvet Cap edition from Ireland's Blackwater Distillery is a mildly peated single malt whisky finished in sherry casks. With its 5 years of maturation it is a young whisky, but surprisingly full and balanced, the peat smoke is subtly present. 40%

The Dutch artisanal Wagging Finger Distillery has been in business since 2016. Besides genever and gin, they also distil single malt whisky. The third edition was released in 2025. The malt matured for 6 years in Oloroso and bourbon casks. (50.4% ABV)
